I wonder if tournaments are posted to bring in cash game players, I will fully admit, I have zero idea how to play cash games, I have only studied tournament poker because I see it as the most practical way to play the game...that is not to say I am right, just what I have invested in with studying, plus I enjoy the idea of tournament play for many reasons, cash games just do not interest me, again, that is just me.

My question...will the tournaments posted hold up to their bargain if I go to Vegas? or will I need to wonder if they will be held?

Thanks

IMHO it's extremely rare for an advertised tournament not to run. There have many times been tournaments that didn't get enough entrants to cover their guarantee and the casino has had to pay up (called an overlay).

Guess it's a possibility. I personally wouldn't worry as it rarely happens. I also don't like cash tables and if I was to go for a tournament I wouldn't just accept that it's not happening and jump in a cash game. I have close to 0 interest in cash games. I'd rather go home and look up another tournament. But I have strong convictions regarding my time and my actions. Gamblers wouldn't mind I guess, they might just settle for any slot machine, roulette or whatever if poker wasn't available. Taking that into account, it could be a way to attract people but I wouldn't worry much unless the tournament was on the other side of Earth.

Having been to Vegas several times, I have never seen a big tournament be canceled. Only once a tournament was cancel when I went to the casino for a daily game and it was canceled do to an issue that had happened in the poker room that night. The tournament scheduled for 4 hours later did play.

With Covid 19 going on its possible it could happen but, its probably safe to say it wont be canceled.

Text messages of tourneys from the locals is pretty much a joke in ATX. But, I can see why they send them...cash game players.

They do host legit tourneys, but the buy-ins are too high, and just not sure yet...and I am not interested in freeroll tournaments with a cheap rebuy, I am not a fan of gambling and playing against gamblers in ATX, lots of egos and lots of money here.

guess it is just how they roll in ATX.

Would rather be in Las Vegas to play Poker.
