I have a good friend I want to stake in the 10k gauranteed.Basically he's a good player always generally a final table or cash when he does playin casino tournaments N.he isn't a pro but this tournament won't likely have many in it. It's a 10k gauranteed 200$ buy in.

If I stake a friend and he cashes , how much should I ask in return?

I'm not talking about staking Negraneau in the 10k buy in. This is a friend in a 200 tourney and he's a really solid tournament player.

Give me some advice. I don't want to drive the 4 hrs alone though and I want him to play as well. Not just make the ride with me .

Ask for what gets the job done.

Thanks for posting.

You want to entice him to travel and play so the deal has to be good enough to get him to do that.
So ask him what would it take to get him to come. If he is reasonable take the deal.

If he says he wants a deal from you, do a floating deal where the higher he finishes the greater the % he wins. That way he gets paid for playing well and that may make him want to compete.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. We settled on a 60 /40 split of any winnings with him paying back the buy in to me and any rebuy if I decide to give him a rebuy.

This guy is a serious player he's just never took putting his skills to the test seriously. He wins a lot of local tournaments as do I but he is disabled so it's hard for him to seperate bankroll money and bill money. He's a paraplegic. And one of my best friends .

I think it’s great that you are staking him and found an agreement on the split of the winnings.

Please let us know how the tournament turns out. Would love to hear you and your friend finished 1st and 2nd. J

I ran card dead all night. Still outlasted 40+ others. The blind structure was absolute garbage. Once it hit 3 and 600 they wanted a 600 ante.

Not worth a rebuy.

Later ran into a cash game. Got down then up. Walked out a few hundred down overall.not a bad night. But not a good one. First real hit ive taken to my bankroll in a month or more.

Buddy got 9th and took $533 home.
I got my buy in back from.him and let him keep the rest. He's a good friend.

That is awesome. I am sure that made him happy.

Good call to bring him along and stake him. Thanks for the update :)

Blinds went
100/100
100/200
100sb/200bb/200bb
200sb/400bb/400bb
300sb/600bb with 600 ante
It continued on but we were pretty much blinding out at the 500/1000/1000 level which made rebuys not worth it.

Sorry but if that's how all HPT tournament events are run I won't play another. That's trash.

Cards were bent /marked and when I brought it up they refused to change the deck or exchange the card or cards. If your tour is that broke maybe try not playing it in casinos that smell like dead hookers.

Lots of collusion by locals . Obvious collusion. Won't get into it but I was disheartened by it.

Rant over.

That's so cool of you to do that to a friend, too bad for you to lose a couple of hundreds but if it's the first in a while then I have no worries for you :)

That's what's up! Glad he placed.

Congratulations! You have described an arrangement that is a win-win!

It is also good to have someone to review hands with on the drive home.

And, he would be familiar with some of the players that you are up against.

Good luck !

I wouldn't play there again either, in regards to the cards, I would have complained and requested my buy in back then walked out. Seems very badly run for a 200 buy in.
