Don't you hate it when someone covers his face to not give away any information? Or makes his stone face. Not poker face, tremendous difference.
Takes a lot of skill and balls to not give away anything while talking then while sitting still, staring at one point with your mouth opened and barely breathing.
Poker face is a tough skill to master.

Sometimes when I get nervous among strangers, my face might start twitching uncontrollably, although my mind is totally clear. Even face mask would not hide it.

Many players wear sunglasses to cover their eyes at the poker table, some wear hoodies to cover their ears and some wear scarves to cover their neck. I worried about tells before I played live for the first time...but then it came to me...yes, my pupils would dilate, my ears turn red and my Adam's apple may move from swallowing hard...but guess what; the same thing happens when I have the nuts or I am bluffing. How many players are actually good enough to tell the "Tell" difference ?

So now, I don't worry about it...I just play poker and enjoy it.

Nobody? Just me? Okay.

Few replies because although you ask a legit question, you’ve put it on the wrong forum.

Since this forum is mostly penny grinders and freerollers, you might not get many replies at all. I can’t think of any casino or card room locally that puts on $50 freerolls or runs a $.01/$.02 cash table, so I can’t see many on this place with a lot of experience with live poker action with real players and more importantly, real money.

When casinos do open up and run again, might be lots of people going Phil Laak and covering their whole face. Might need to get used to full face covers and dem sunglasses

Yes you right. Well i myself dont have too much of live poker experience, but i watched alot on youtube, and when i see a good poker face - this player instantly earns my respect.
Also i remember playing live in the university with friends and i had soo much fun acting and using poker face to confuse my opponent. Its weird for me that such a strong mechanism is not used enough in live poker. At least the part of it that i can watch on youtube.
Instead they cover their faces on some dificult situations, or even worse use stone face. Boy this looks so dumb.

but then how to say, each player has his own, and his face is mainly needed at a live gaming table, some players hide their emotions behind glasses, their eyes can give out good cards or a bluff, so, here you also have to be an act in order to play skillfully, show a good hand when there is nothing, or, on the contrary, to show that you have nothing and then go all-in on the opponent's bluff an:angel:d just empty him ... not everyone has enough nerves for everything

My "poker face" is to be smiling while at the table. Loving the game like I do makes it really easy. :)

Poker face is a tough skill to master.

Yes, but having a good "poker face" is really only relevant if your opponents are capable of deciphering tells and implementing a counter-strategy. The lower levels almost certainly are not capable of this, so there isn't really any harm in not having a poker face.

It is an obvious necessity at the levels with more skilled players though :D

My "poker face" imitates the style of Hellmuth. Who cares if it looks good or not? At high stakes, the goal is the conceal information - not a beauty contest. I'm sure Hellmuth is more concerned with not giving anything away even if that means looking like he just wants to crawl in a hole somewhere and hide sometimes :D

My "poker face" is to be smiling while at the table. Loving the game like I do makes it really easy. :)

So you are like Negreanu's poker face then? He usually seems happy and smiling :)

Also this clip is pretty funny - only 11 seconds long: I wish it was longer though lol

Omg Tom Dwan
Well yeah no beauty contest, but what i mean by 'looks dumb' is that u r a pro, who plays for like hundred years already, claims to be the bestest of the bestest, and yet you dont have no poker face so you need to cover your face.
I mean on the highest level this should be a very strong tool for wining and yet very few good poker faces out there.

For something I love live game, seeing the faces of the players is everything. All your emotions are there, hand in hand, face to face as the jargon would say. :D

I don't like it and don't do it or reverse signs but everyone is able to do what he wants. Anyway, you can try to find difference between their movements. It is easier than when they make many moves everywhere.

When gulp is instant - mostly it's bluff, after long pause - mostly nuts. I noticed it for myself in 90%. But when I noticed it - it started changing to 70% and absolutely changed to vice versa. After some period it changed back.

When I play poker, my face isn't mine. It's like his. Who is he? I don't know.

Yeah the face covering is not quite fun but the act of doing it can show weakness or strenght as it depends on the llayer and the situation.Needless to say i dont really have a pokerface and i think i can be read pretty easily....actually prefer poker online unless it s with friends :)

I was once told, I had a good "poker face", because I always look like "I'd won $1 and lost $10". I took that as a compliment and then took their money.

I do where my hoodie at the table and at times worn it over my head. This is not my being funny to act like a professional but it the dam A/C bouncing on my bald head making me cold. LOL For those who are wondering this is really why i wear the hoodie this way.

As for my poker face I think i must have a decently good one. I have played and several players have said they could not get a read off of me at all of if they think they did is was always wrong. In one tournament 5 years or so ago and older women and I have bang heads against each other a few times and she was not a happy person. She was somewhere between 75 and 85 and I had just 3 bet her on the flop again. She had for about 3-4 minutes sat there making some odd quick moves trying to get a reaction from me when she pull down her shirt and showed me most of he breast. A few seconds after that she folded and left the table for a break. People at the table said I never flinched even when she pull her shirt down.

Hello everyone! Not everyone can do this with poker. The ability not to give out your emotions, to play calmly, impartially, regardless of losses or wins. I probably would not have been able to behave so emotionally at the table, so I prefer to play online, where the poker face is unnecessary.

Definitely yes, I think so too.
More experienced players can easily swallow players with less experienced players. In life we already have to respect the elders, at a poker table we must respect them even more, they can win all their money and a little more.
