In a live cash game in a casino what happens if you fold and show what cards you have with players left to act in the hand? I'm assuming this isn't allowed? And if it's not, then what is the penalty for it?

Different rules everywhere. I saw it once in a tournament but it wasn't on purpose. You get a penalty for that, like 10 mins or a full circle or something. I don't know what would happen if you did it on purpose.

at the TD discretion you can be warned, removed from a set number of hands or rounds or even ask to leave. It could be looked at as collusion. It is VERY VERY bad form to expose cards with action left

Whatever the rules, it is BAD. Never do this.

You will get the whole table against you, I guess :)

hmm, yeah interesting. I certainly know you're not supposed to do it, but i always wondered what would the actual punishment for it be. thanks for the responses :)

As said above, up to tournament director but typically you get a penalty for 1 rd of your table, so if 9 players you have to sit out 9 hands. And btw doesn't matter if you do it by accident even, still a penalty, though some directors will be more lenient than others, at least where I play

Instead of scolding or yelling at the villain I simply explain, "You wouldn't like it if someone did it to you when you were still in a hand and say you had KK."

When explained in this manner a player usually understands the "In their shoes" analogy.

But if they are drunk or say that they just don't care then the floor needs to deal with it.

Good luck !

I can't believe there's not a more severe penalty by doing this. Let's imagine:

Two friends play in the same hand with another guy. The two friends know each others play really well. That play happens when one of the two friend voluntarily show his 2 cards knowing his friend is on a draw. It could change the entire tournament...

I don't have a solution to prevent it though...
