This is a discussion on First time live poker at casino - any tips? within the online poker forums, in the Live Poker section; So, I‘m 4000 hands in with PokerStars and plan to join a casino cash game for the first time tomorrow. Kind of shitting my pants
Live poker is not as daunting as you may think...if anything, players are apt to taunt or criticize less because you can actually see who is doing it. It is very similar to clients who call a call site vs. attending a client counter in person....phone callers are always more rude.
If you do well online, you should do great live. I wouldn't sweat it as much as you are.
Depending on your play-style, i would stay patient at first, picking and choosing your spots wisely (Maybe present a taggish/tight image at first).
Once you feel you've adjusted to live play and you're more comfortable with the live scene, get a feel of your table dynamics and how the rest of your opponents are playing, then adjust your play style to play off of them. If its a table full of nits, LAG it up(have a wide opening range and cbet most of your flops) and take advantage of all the dead money. Same thing goes if its a table full of wreckless lags- sit back and wait for some premium hands to bust them.
Im sure you'll do great! Most online players crush live poker. Gl!

re: Poker & First time live poker at casino - any tips?
Just know that 2 ,3 and 4 outers are not as abundant live as they are online. Its truly not anything like online poker. where real odds are odds and not just want to be odds cause of "so many more hands" LOL
Good luck and most of all have fun, win some money
Play tight, play position. Always watch the other players they will give you information unknowingly. Most of all, just relax and play your cards, if they sense weakness you are done. Been there, made that mistake.
