re: Poker & Do you have your own poker table?
I think if you're planning to setup the table and leaving it up opposed to setting it up and breaking it down every time you play. Then I think the choices you make will depend mainly on the room it's going in. The colors and fabrics I would want to match the decor that's already in the room and I would build it to a size appropriate for that space. If I going to start with the table and kind of build and design the rest of the room around it. My personal preference would a six handed table that is a little oversized so everyone doesn't feel like they are sitting on top of one another. I would say that cup holders are a must. I would also include a little shelf or compartment where players can put their phones or wallet if they so chose to. If your handy with electrical and your able to get power to the table I would definitely I would definitely put an outlet with built-in USB ports at each sit location. This way players can charge their phones without constantly get up and down to go check it. I think accent lighting adds a nice touch. I would stay away from white lights or any bright colors as they wear on the eyes after a little while. I would probably go with a deep blue or possibly purple. Instead of lightning the top of the table I think I would favor to use the lights under the table strictly as an accent. I should try and stay away from using led lights as the main lighting source. They're not very good for your eyes. I know nothing about fabrics but I would suggest something of high quality that cleans up easy and is durable. If you smoke I would definitely get a fabric that is resistànt to burning. If your going to be putting all the time and effort into this that would be needed I think what I would do is once a pick the fabric for the table top I would then take it to a printer or embroider and have a custom design put into it. Something that when people see it they know right away that this isn't just any poker table it's your poker table. With all that said I would definitely spend the most time, effort and money one on legs and frame of the table. Over time you can always replace fabric or change lighting but the table its self your probably going to want to keep in tack. Use high quality woods. Add detailing wherever you can. Most of all enjoy the process of building it. I wish I could help it sounds like I really cool project to undertake. Good luck man! And if you do end up doing it please don't forget to post pictures not only of the finished project but post pictures all along the way so we can see this thing as it comes to life. Right now you have me so enthused that I just may build one and post pics along with you
