So I played a live game not long ago. And I did not like this situation so I wanted to find out if it is okay or not.

Girl busts out. Re-buys for another 100bb. Does not yet have a chip stack but the dealer allows her to play.

I remember her saying “okay I call his raise, but 200 minus 40 equals 160, so I guess I have 160 right?”

Idk she even went all in without chips at the table and the dealer was keeping track of her stack I guess. But I am trying to keep track of the pot, the bets, what have you. Then I folded top pair because I was sitting there for a while trying to figure out what happened as people were arguing what the pot was because there were imaginary chips in there.

Is it okay to play without any chips and deduct from your stack based on memory or is it a solid rule that someone has to have physical chips in order to play?

game should stop until she got chips or left,

i would definitely leave, unless of course the table was full of cash cows and you could not say no to such an opportunity😂

but in general never play with memory chips lol

That would not be a live game I participated in again. That's just plain crazy.

I've played at quite a few cash games in casinos in Vegas and they allow the player to continue play without chips, they rebuy and the brush goes after their chips. The dealer as with all things usually has a chip for that :)

Hi
Yes that's true
Dealers do allow players to continue without missing a hand.
They commit to an amount of rebuy, and the player is given chips as the hand is dealt.
In the mean time the game progresses.
it's very normal that happens.
But the chips are delivered to the player in a short while, doesn't take long.

That's interesting. I was pretty sure they didn't do that at our casino here. I'll have to check that out.

It seems a somewhat confusing situation. But I think it is not so serious. After all, she had already done the rebuy.

I have seen it happen when the player has already given cash to the dealer, who called for chips. It usually takes only a few moments for the chips to be delivered, and usually the dealer is able to accurately keep track of what should go to the player stack, and what goes into the pot.

Happens all the time, in fact it would not be normal if it didn't happen.

I didn't even know you could do that. Are you sure she's not the daughter of the casino owner ?

It's always been allowed at casinos around here. As long as she gave the money for chips she is technically in the game. It keeps people from getting robbed out of Bad Beat jackpots or comp points. Dealer keeps a mental track , everybody's happy

This is absolutely OK ! And, even better you want players gambling their chips as soon as the money is out of the wallet.

If she gave that $200 to the dealer, floor or chip runner then that money is in play.

Usually the dealer keeps a separate stack of chips that the player is "light". Often placed as a stack in front of that player as a marker - or as a separate stack in the pot so everyone can see how much "credit" the player used and so other players can gauge how much money is in the pot (just double the marker stack and add the rest of the pot and that is the total pot).

Good luck !

As the more experienced players here have already stated, yes you can keep playing even without a chip stack in front of you as long as you have committed to purchasing more chips and your money is either on the table or has been taken. In some places a button is put down in front of the player but many places do not and in these cases the cage, pit boss, dealer and runner are all aware.

I would make a fuss or move tables

I see others on here commenting this is allowed which I wasn’t aware of. However, I’m playing for real money and don’t trust people keeping track mentally in these situations.

With real money I wanna see real chips and would make this point to the dealer or consider moving if he shoves me the wrong way.

Mistakes can happen and this is why it’s strange even allow this in the first place.

It happens every day in every casino in the USA.. lol
I find it funny that anyone has an issue with it.
Most casinos have a digital screen that the dealer can use to help keep track.

That happens where I play too.. sucks..

The problem is that sometimes the person with the chips take too long to come over to the table, and to keep the game running the dealers let ppl play with no chips.

The places I've played where this was an issue, The rebuyer just bought chips from the chip leader. leaving the cash with him and Floor would give the chips to the chip leader and get the cash.. Way easier and smarter!

Because most places give value chips in place of the "missing" chips.

So if shes buying in for 200 she would get 2 $100 brown chips to show value. Plus in that situation I'm still keeping track mentally so I know.
