The 14th Annual Arizona State Poker Championships was scheduled to run August 10-14th at The Arena Poker Room at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. On August 11, a massive storm took out major components of the resort's electrical system and flooded both backup generators. The entire property is without power. The resort is not expected to reopen until August 19th. The resort is only a couple of miles from my house and we had really bad storms for almost 4 nights in a row with hurricane force winds, heavy rain, and nasty lightning.
That sucks, but thankfully, all guests at the property were evacuated safely.
Not sure if the Championship event has been cancelled or is just postponed until further notice.
