Do you play deuce-tray :2d4: :3d4: ?

If yes, how often do you play it?
From which position?
How would you play the hand? (do you open it, how much, flat call, 3-bet?)
Do you have stats?...and what are they?

If no, what is the weakest hand you play?

Here are the stats, "in the long run", as per ProPokerTools Hold'em Simulation

Off suit

7,177,978,368 trials (Exhaustive)
23 29.30% (2,072,581,396 wins, 60,525,120 ties)
20% 70.70% (5,044,871,852 wins, 60,525,120 ties)

Suited

1,794,494,592 trials (Exhaustive)
2x3x 32.03% (567,370,504 wins, 14,851,572 ties)
20% 67.97% (1,212,272,516 wins, 14,851,572 ties)

:2d4: :7d4: stats are only slightly worse.

1,767,097,728 trials (Exhaustive)
2x7x 31.17% (543,559,776 wins, 14,355,512 ties)
20% 68.83% (1,209,182,440 wins, 14,355,512 ties)

Back in the old days I would always shuv (all-in) any 23, suited or not, when it hit it was always spectacular, boats, flushes, straights, and the look on peoples faces were priceless. I never had stats to verify but I thought I mostly won with my favourite hand.

These days I just fold it, because it looses money, but every now and then I do see those spectacular boards which I am now missing. Thinking perhaps I should make room for this hand in some range again.

Tell us your thoughts...

How often do I play it? Maybe only if no one has raised and I was the BB.

So you are saying you will only play it if it is free hand. That's not really "playing" it is it?

You are right. If someone at the table raises preflop every hand, I would not be able to play the hand.

If no one raised preflop, and flopped 22, 33, I'd have a playable hand... Not that it would win, as anyone could have a higher set. Which is why I prefer not to play low cards, because it is demoralizing for a set to lose to a higher set.

That may be true but what are the odds? Since another 23 would make it a draw there are only 44 out of the 2,598,960 possible combinations that has you beat.

Which means there is only a 0.001% chance of loosing the hand to a higher set so you shouldn't be all that hard on yourself then.

I might open raise with it in position.

I don't call with it unless I am getting huge implied odds. Like if someone min raised pre and there were 3+ callers and I am on BB needing just to call 1 big blind.

Oops I think I had that wrong...there are 2,598,960 5 card combinations but in Holdem there are only 1,326.

11 (cards excluding 2 and 3) * 4 (suits) - 1 (the other card on the flop) = 43 available combinations that can beat the set or 3.24%.

Even though they call 2 n 7 the worst starting hand, I have had more luck with that then the 2 n 3 combination. I usually chuck the 2 n 3 and wait for the next hand.

This is one of the reasons God invented the fold button.

23 is bad, dont play it almost ever!

(Except suited and in big blind in rare scenarios.)

I can't think of a time when I would go out of my way to play 32. Even if I was abusing someone who folds too much, this would probably be one of the hands where I just let them have it, so my abuse of their weakness isn't super obvious.

There's no need to go to war without a weapon.

I'm willing to limp 2x on 23s, but it depends on my stack really.

Big blind is a good spot. Sometimes I will do a raise when I am dealer and then take a shot at it after the flop

Depending on your stack size, late position and table action, a one or two big blind bet can give a good ROI. I think it can be worth the risk. Remember, any two cards can win.

23s is not a game combination. The most I can do is click the check button on the big blind if no one raises.
