Hello all,

Being an observant person above all, and being the analysis of people on the table an important part of the game, makes me wonder: can we deduce the type of play of such impulsive people who get affected by emotions or get tilted after a specific play (against us or anyone else)?
Personally I think this is affirmative, so the following questions would be: what type of player are we generally facing? Can we get value in the inmediate following hand after this player shows off? And how much value can we get for the rest of the game once this people cool off?

Looking forward to see your opinions!

No, because it's something that will play out in the long run and not necessarily in the short run.

In the short term we may have a big advantage over them but depending on the persons it may be for hours or just a hand or 2. Just remember even if on tilt a player can be dangerous. Yes you may get it in very good for 100BB+ with say AKs against 72o but you still end up losing about 31% of the time.

The odds are still good. And the point is the implicit advantage over opponent's wrong decisions. However I agree with you on having it in only short term most of the times.

Be careful, this is a mind game, maybe you think you have an advantage, but they are trying to take advantage of the advantage by playing with your mind.

Haha good point, we would need to see how many of those actually play according to reverse psicology tho.

I had the same feeling more than once. Like the player get smashed and almost out of the game and suddenly recover like a Phoenix from the ashes next hand right away. I guess we only remember these plays and not the logical ones which occur more often tho.

Yes, in the long term this type of play is suboptimal so you can take advantage of it. Of course, as others have said, that doesn't always work out in the short term but as long as you have bankroll management you should be optimising for the long term at all times

I think it pays to pay attention, .... tiltboxes are pretty exploitable especially right after a bad hand... people are generally creatures of habit, if they tilt once they will generally tilt again. I think overly emotional people are pretty exploitable on and off the table👍...

Yes, these are the best players to face at the tables. They are driven by emotions and when things don’t go the way they ego expected to go, they turn into whipping babies, doing strange moves, shoving preflop, anyway, they start to cry out and play bad.
For example, some dude has his AA broken after jamming preflop or postflop, and it simply loses its mind. This is a great spot to exploit and explore, all we have to do is have some decent equity and put the chips in the middle.
Poker is a game for cold blood warriors, we aren’t allowed to lose our temper and if it happens, we quit the game and lose the tables immediately.

In the long run, of course, we'll be able to figure out which player and take advantage of his tilt so I think the answer is yes than no

It depends.

1. You want to make sure the player is on till. If the villain 🦹‍♀️ is playing every pot.
2. You want to have a polarized range eg. AK . JJ+ to have the best chance to win 🏅.

Summary. You definitely have a advantage over a player that’s play every pot . But sometimes when a player is on tilt and playing every pot he will get lucky 🍀 and stack you or take a big chunk of your chips. So it can work in favor of the tilted player mmmm 😋 tricky question 🙋‍♀️.
