Greeting.
I've only been playing poker for a few months.
On some sites A,2,3,4,5 is stronger than 2,3,4,5,6
On some sites 2,3,4,5,6 is stronger than A,2,3,4,5
When two players have a straight, the one with the STRONGEST card wins.
"A " is the strongest card in poker.
I think it's A,2,3,4,5 is stronger than 2,3,4,5,6,
but does anyone who knows for sure which is stronger can explain this?
Thanks for your reply.

Hi.

When two players have a straight, the player with the HIGHER straight wins. Higher means the straight that ends in the highest card. In the case of A,2,3,4,5 versus 2,3,4,5,6, the straight with the 6 is the higher straight. In this scenario, the A is actually the lowest card (it is taking the place of a "one") and not the strongest card.

Does that help?

It all depends on the card with which straight ends.If you have 10,J,Q,K and A that straight ends with ace and its the most powerful straight. In your example your straight begin with A (A,2,3,4,5)not end with A and therefore that is the weakest straight of all straights. So in Texas holdem poker A,2,3,4,5 cannot never be stronger than 2,3,4,5,6 unless you caught flush with that combination also.

It really depends on which game you're playing.

In Razz, and the low hand in both Stud HiLo and Omaha HiLo, the A2345 hand (a wheel) always beats 23456.

However, 23456 beats A2345 in the high hand in both Stud HiLo and Omaha HiLo.

With the wheel, the A is considered the lowest part of the straight. In an online client, you'd see that you had a "Straight, Ace to Five" with a wheel, where the 5 is the highest card. With a 2-6 straight, it'd say "Straight, Two to Six". As far as I know this is the only case in Poker (excluding lo games) where an Ace is considered the lowest card

Confusing Hold Em winning hands with Omaha Hi/Lo hands

On some sites A,2,3,4,5 is stronger than 2,3,4,5,6
On some sites 2,3,4,5,6 is stronger than A,2,3,4,5

I think you are confusing some aspects of Omaha Hi/Lo. Otherwise, in most other games and on ALL sites 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 is almost always stronger than A, 2, 3, 4, 5. They only way A, 2, 3, 4, 5 would beat 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in Hold-Em is if the A, 2, 3, 4, 5 was ALL suited. Then it would be a straight flush vs. just a straight.

Hope this helps!
