This is a discussion on Your favorite small pocket pair within the online poker forums, in the General Poker section; Hello, I'd like to ask you what your favorite small pocket pair is and why? Maybe you and her won an important handout or tournament,
This is a difficult question. Because I no longer play small pairs although it also depends on where I sit at the table and who is still in the hand and so on. I have given up the habit of holding onto certain cards because any hand can be a winning hand, no matter how good or bad it is. But when it comes to probabilities, the chance of winning with AA is higher than with 22. But when I was new to poker I won several times against AA with 22.
My favorite small pair is 3 3, with it I often win in cash, in tournaments, I rarely fold it, even if I don't hit the flop, then often another 3 comes on the turn or river, which helps to win the hand.
For reasons unknown, I have good fortune with 77 and 88. They may be dominated heads up, but 77 connects low, and high. 88 I don't catch the low str8, as the probabilities say, but it works better for me than 99 or 1010.
Hello If you take pairs from 2 to 7, then I hate them, because I can't fold them and I lose 90% of the hands
I don't really like little pocket pairs either, but I like some, like 88-77! In many cases, I lose, but not very much! As they say "to the flop, everyone is equal" and with a good stack I cannot throw them out!
Pocket 6's would be it for me. My first time I had 4 of a kind was 6's. Actually the 1st 3 time were. LOL Sixes just seam to win for me overall. Probably my getting so many great hands is why I love them so much and I am sure I dont win as much as I would like to think with them but even today when I look down and see them I think I am going to have a winner.
2s just because once upon a time I hit quads on the flop with them and the whole table thought I was bluffing. Definitely a meme hand though. Only reason I played it then was because the pre-flop raises were small.
The very first hand playing live at a casino that I won was with pocket 7s...I usually play them, but they have not been kind to me of late. I have had more luck with the hand that got me knocked me out of the 2019 WSOP Colossus...pocket 8s (came up against pocket Jacks).

Whatever the biggest pocket pair that you still count as a small one (so probably 55)
Because it can overset the smallest pairs like 22, 33, 44
Not much better than getting all your money in the middle in a set over set situation where you have the best of it... the one thing that is better? getting all in with the nut flush against a non nut flush where your opponent is literally drawing dead
