re: Poker & Did you have a fear of playing poker for real money?
My first experiences with poker began with a home game at a friend's house. We play every week (but not since the pandemic started). The stakes were small with a buy-in of only $20. I was nervous to learn poker and did not want to lose my money. I am very tight with my hard-earned cash.
While I had no problem playing slots in a casino, I was afraid to sit at a poker table. My friend took me to a casino poker room for my first experience, about one year after I started playing in his home game.
Yes, I was nervous and had trouble controlling my shaky hands and knees. It took me a good 20-30 minutes to settle my nerves.
Since then, I have played live home and casino games and online. I am still nervous about putting my money on the line, but I feel confident in my game and understand that variance plays a role in what happens to my money on any given day.
