If poker were just an online game, the essence of which would be entertainment and there would be no prize pools.
Would you play poker, or would you never come to this card game?
People play all sorts of game's without there being money involved, you only have to look on Facebook to see many
poker games are played purely for fun.
Personally it wouldn't bother me that much if the money was taken out of the equation, because it has never been my only motivation.
Sure it is nice to win cash but I used to play on Facebook simply for the challenge, It was only the Covid Pandemic that closed the places where I used to play Poker for cash because of the Lock Downs, that I turned back to On-line Poker, The reason being a Self imposed Challenge to see if I was as good a player as I thought I was, because if I was a good enough player I would not have any problems doubling up my small
bankroll of $200 on
pokerstars, I managed to treble it in 6 months. Not enough to live off, but proved to myself that by careful Bankroll Management and slowly levelling up, I could increase my Bankroll.
Everyone thinks they are good Poker players, but in reality not many can accept that losing at Poker is just as important as winning, Why? Because people learn from making mistakes, if you don't make any mistakes how can you learn?
Someone once said "You can learn Poker in 5 minutes, but it takes a lifetime to master" and that is very true!
I still play fun games when I am in the mood, probably more than I do for
real money, but as I said "money is not my motivation" and it never was.
