Why do you play Poker
I like to play games, and I love to win. Poker is a game where you have a big influence on the chance to win, and if you love to optimize your chances, then it is the perfect game for you.
How do you then maximize your chances to win?
First you have to win more than the casino charge.
You can't beat the rake, but you can play in the casino with the lowest rake.
One example is playing 1/2c cash games where the rake vaeies from 3,5 % to 5 %.
Over time you can save a lot of rake playing on a casino with 3,5% compared to 5%
The rake can also be reduced by the reward system offered by most casinos.
And now it gets difficult to predict the value.
Many rewards are more a lotery ticket than a reward, and I don't like lotery tickets.
Reward systems often try to motivate you to play more, so be carefull not to fall in that trap.
Playing the freerolls offered by the casino can contribute to the chance of beeing a winning player, so use that opportunity.
The way you play:
Most important is the way you play.
Only play good hands
Position is important, late position give you more info on your opponents, early position gives you less information.
Respect the value of your hand and don't take more chances than the value of your hand.
It's the best sport I've ever played to keep my brain active.. it doesn't stop for a sec, always making some calculous to find the best probability and make the best decision! Even before the money, that's why I play poker everyday since I played for the first time
Why we play, the only reason we play? For the big pots. For the life changing money. For finally moving out of your mother's basement and into a sick house in Thailand with tons of poker friends. For traveling around the world and playing in the biggest games on the planet. For bottle service at Tao and playing hooker/not a hooker. For partying so hard you black out and wake up naked in an inflatable raft full of hundred dollar bills.
None of you seem to understand. I'm not locked in here with all of you. All of you are locked in here with ME!

I play POker to win, to have fun, for the amount of emotions you feel when you are in a tournament, especially if it is a tournament in which you paid or won a large entry and more if the reward is thousands of dollars. So many emotions that you feel, which is what I think, give a poker player joy and enthusiasm to compete in this game.
I play Poker only since a few months, for me it's fun, and when I win it's big fun.
Poker is a fantastic combination of maths, strategy, psychology, discipline, luck and a never ending process of learning...
Usually it's just boredom or if I put the little girl to bed. Not specifically the profit desire for celom
Now I like it more and more... You could say I'm good at it in part. So I've already won smaller major tournaments
At the same time, I think it improves thinking sometimes logic. You can also learn to limit the expression of emotions.
i just have so much fun. when i won is easy, when i loose, if was my error, i try never repeat, if i suffer one badbeat, i still enjoy, cause i was playing well... poker is amazing! no doubt i love this sport of mind.
I use Poker as a time filler. There is nothing like coming home from a busy day and just unloading by playing poker. Of course I like winning, but I also like the endless lessons I learn from losing as well. It helps me balance my conception about risk and reward. I take some of these skills and use them in my day to day life.
By pacion, I love it, trying to survive with so many excellent players that there are today, I am a winner and I persist in being one, I like healthy competition, I have been playing it for more than 15 years, but until about a year ago and I half began to study everything related to strategies, and today I continue my path in seeking new challenges for my well-being, apart from the number of friends I have over time, and I am very grateful. To CC for helping me with my new experiences lived in the forums ... a game that has no end ... luck
I'm disabled so I don't have many options. Poker is seems to be the best. Besides I've had incredible luck from the very first tournament I played. So I consider the game a blessing in an otherwise unlucky life.
Thank you for the article.
I'll take a note and use it in my game. Since I am a novice player in an online game, I study everything related to the game. I didn't even know about the river system.
I play poker to test my psychology ability and to challenge myself. I've always had a gift for psychology and a knack for reading people; it only occurred to me randomly one day that poker might be a cool way to put that ability to the test.
Only problem was, I didn't really know how to play poker! That same day I created my cardschat account and I've been here having fun ever since. I've been active in the forums, learning a lot, working on my game, playing the freerolls, playing in the cardschat league games and so much more I never imagined previously!
I love it here and I love poker now, but cardschat is a cornerstone to that foundation Thanks cardschat for making a community like this possible
1st place finish at CardsChat 30 Day Course Freeroll (May 31, 2020). As my first ever CardsChat event, this one will always be special for me.
