Hello

Hello,
In poker tables, some players act slowly every single time, personally I feel annoyed by them, what's your feeling?

Do not be upset at all, it is a strategy to introduce doubt and fear in the opponent and lure him to anger and sometimes to see the turn and the river ;)

Bush league garbage.

Angling is for scumbags.

I treat such players calmly, they do not break the rules, they have the right to use their time and think during the game.

If someone plays slow at my table, I play slow as well. This way we are double slow :)

It doesn't bother me much, but there was already a situation when it was downright annoying.
I am somehow avoided by such players, and there are more in tournament poker than in other games.
It is also possible that if you play at more than 2 table, you will not even notice them.

Such behaviors may not break the rules, so does trash talk in poker chats, offensive languages are also used by some player as a "poker strategy", but poker rooms do censor them. My thought is using such tactics deliberately should be deemed as inappropriate at least.

Slow down and use your clock. You will do better. Even if the decision is obvious, take the time. Poker should be slow and deliberate. In cash games the pause does not need to be as long, but in MTT, the pause will give you an advantage. Also, the lower your chip count, the slower you should play. Players do better when they slow down.

Try and play the 9 handed cash games on ACR, takes 5 Mins a hand on average.

One thing no one has touched on is in a tournament you want to see as many hands as possible or at least I do. The more hands the more the better players have a chance to exploit weaknesses and stack chips. Yes you have the right but if you do it every hand it is kind of poor sportsmanship. If you do it in a live room every hand you can be warned then penalized, depending on the house rules or the tournament director.

For me it really depends on the context. Online it's fine, I just hope they're not pulling that last level of late reg. That's super annoying for those who might want to buy back in. In a live setting it can get really annoying. I was playing a cash game at my local casino. An older gentleman took the max amount of time to stall every hand he played. Even if he was going to fold, he took forever. lol eventually all of us at the table made it our mission to play back at the man and take his chips. Needless to say he didn't last long.

Interesting story, and I think it is much easily for people online to adopt this option, because players can't see each other's faces.

I don't issue with someone taking some time for postflop decisions when their stack-to-pot ratio is smaller. A simple preflop decision (folding junk hands early position) should be a fairly quick decision. The only exception is during money or FT bubble.
I would state reducing the number of tables to reduce a time for easy fold decisions.

Sometimes it's poor internet, sometimes it's playing multiple tables, sometimes it's to get under your skin.

Just gives me time to get more coffee ;)

I am a very laid back person and I understand that some players like to take their time making decisions. I, for one, often act too quickly and regret it later.

I think its only mildly irritating but as previously mentioned in other posts, there could be a number of reasons for this, the main one i tend to find is people running down the clock to ensure they min cash.

It depends on the purpose for which they do it. There are those who hesitate from the very beginning, especially in a hyper tournament - they annoy me too, and if a player hesitates to reach the prize places, then I also sometimes do this myself.

I just find players , who are slow I guess they think too much. I have never thought to long, playing poker. I could see if it's wpt , cause you need to make right decisions. But in the tournaments I play, I guess maybe it takes time to register . I make my decisions quickly , cause I can already see what can happen on the board. But for massive dollars on the line , I see thinking will happen.

Sometimes I play very slowly myself, because besides poker I am busy with other things. But I don't think that's a problem, because the time for reflection is provided by the rules of poker.

It doesn't bother me in the least; it is their time and time back to use however they want...slowrolling is a different story for ethics (even if the slowroll was at someone else in a hand I'm not involved in).

btw, how many of these people who get upset at slow players also play live poker? I'm guessing most of them only play online because live can be A LOT slower from what I hear :D

I agree with you that it is Angling shooting. There are lots of players doing this. To me their not that good of players because in the long run you see less hands. To me I want to see as many hands as possible in a tournament.

This is one of the other reasons why I prefer online poker than live. Everybody has a time bank so if you take too long they automatically fold you. Where as live you can take much longer than the online time bank. Me personally I think players do that to try and tilt your patience.

In live poker another player has the right to call a clock on someone for taking their time. Online they should have a faster clock that people can call on someone who is wasting time to waste time.

of course everyone has the right to think about their play, but there are some players who just don't play and delay the tournament I think that's stupid

I understand that at some points in a tournament it's +EV to try and 'waste' as much time as possible(especially close to the bubble in satellites where if you finish ITM you win the same prize and with your stack you're pretty much guaranteed to finish ITM) but I rarely do it and I hate to be at a table where a few people do this... Also, some players abuse it at different stages when it makes no sense(every decision in early mtts stages and/or on the bubble when it's hand for hand) and it ruins the experience at the tables for recreational players and this just might push them away from playing again...

GLGL all at the tables $$$
