In my life, something that needed to be changed was self-control or, more specifically, emotional control.
Variance really knows how to deal with your feelings, and in Poker, if you do not know how to quickly control and stabilize your feelings, be they of anger or happiness, causing you to lose your logical reasoning, do not doubt that you will lose money.

So, when I dedicated 100% of my time to Poker, I had to analyze my emotions and learn to control and stabilize them in seconds, so that a Bad beat doesn't ruin my session.

Learning that is changeable and applicable to anything in your life, really something that is priceless.

And you, what did you learn from Poker?

I could say the same thing about me although I don't dedicate myself to poker 100% I have studied a little about the mental game and the equilibrium you must have to be a successful poker player awareness and self-control are key in poker when the variance hits you, but now I have extrapolate this to my entire life when the variance of life hits you as well I have learned to be more in control of me and my emotions so I'm very thankful to have discovered and learn at leas a little poker I know I will continue learning in the future :D

Hello. In retirement, Poker has become a very special part of my almost daily routine. I do keep the game in perspective and not allow the game to control my family time. Good question.

I am retired, and in the winter months i enjoy playing poker for fun and entertainment.I also play the horses, and go to my local casino,a few times a month.online poker to me is only a big part of my life a few months out of a year.I enjoy the outdoors alot more,so in warm weather i am always fishing or working around my 32 acre farm.

Similar, has thought me to value patience. And it's a way to make a lot of money if you are patient and smart. Live is way better as far as actually making an income on a day to day base. and more authentic.

1.- Well... I don't count my chickens before they hatch.
2.- Now i have more patience
3.- Murphy's law is fulfilled ( *Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. *Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse. *Nothing is as easy as it looks. *Everything takes longer than you think)

learning through poker

poker has done all the stereotypical things for my life like self control and life management and whatnot. But something that i have gained from it is also the abily to see patterns in numbers in life. it also has made me very good at doing very quick math at the top of my head.

Yes, when we are not aware of the need for self-control in our lives, the most superficial study already attributes a gigantic knowledge.

We can say that Poker changes lives, either financially or mentally!

As with anything in life, having a balance is great!

But did you notice anything different, something good or bad that Poker has attributed to your life?

All valuable lessons. I have not really thought about this before, but mostly I am a recreational player. I have learned a little about different cultures around the world but being able to play against many different people and read their posts. I thought that was pretty cool.

The same as baseball or any other sport. Never good enough to be a pro, but just love playing it. Unlike Baseball and such, which I am getting too old to play, poker I can play until my last breath.

Poker helped me in several ways. It helped me to better control my emotions and to make quicker and more accurate assessments in difficult situations. It also showed me the importance of proper bankroll management and persistence for achieving your goals.

Because of damage to my brain I almost died. No pity necessary, as most of it was in the line of duty as a Marine and a cop. That said, there were other factors, but the first 2 did the most. Getting back into poker is literally a medical treatment to help see where I am at emotionally and intelligence wise. My psychiatrist and I discuss how I am doing via talking poker games.

Before that, when I was younger, I was not a pro, but played more than average before the internet. I built a NICE bankroll with money I won over time while I was playing barracks games. I then went to a few places, some legal and some made it necessary to carry a pistol or two. This made me have the ability to eventually pay off my mother's house, travel all over, and have a pretty good life. I then gave it up to take care of my mother and sister. Now, I am back and starting from scratch. Hilariously, the thing I miss most are the games in back rooms where it was not uncommon to have threats heard that could be backed up. That was an element that made this adrenaline junkie have more fun.

I think I'm definitely more patient after I started to play poker, because you can't win anything without patience in poker.

I agree with you, after I started my studies with Poker, apparently it opened my mind to analysis outside of life, for example, I always analyze people, even if it is a simple conversation, and that always brings me a lot of information such as, if the person is being sincere or its true intensities. Something very useful in everyday life and essential to know who is around you.

That Cool. Even though you are a recreational player, Poker has awakened some skill in you, be it the focus, or the ability to focus on multiple people.
That's the incredible thing, Poker always evolves you somehow!

The same as baseball or any other sport. Never good enough to be a pro, but just love playing it. Unlike Baseball and such, which I am getting too old to play, poker I can play until my last breath.

The word professional is something very interpretive, for example, being professional in something attributes the fact that it is enough to pay your bills, and analyzing Poker, I already managed to live on Poker, but I had to dedicate 14 hours of my time. day to day games and studies, and for the salary standard of brazil, the country where I live, I earned almost the same as a lawyer in his early career.
However, my life became the game, just leave my house one day a week and during free time I had to schedule two or three days in advance.
And we know that in addition to the skill, you need to have a good mental state, and facing what I described above is not the easiest situation for anyone.
In short, I stayed with the game for 3 years in a row, taking the food to my family, but after mental exhaustion and time constraints, I decided to play just for fun and followed my profession, which is an electrical engineer.

Conclusion: I believe that anything in the world that you want to be the best, you need to dedicate yourself all the time, giving up many things that you love, and one of the bases to achieve your goals is emotional and mental control, because you have sure it will be shaken.

I can't talk about baseball because it is a sport that culturally in my country is not widely practiced, so I'm not sure how it works beyond the basics.
But in relation to Poker, the key phrase is: "Without sacrifices, there are no results.".

Poker is a game of skill, and skill is learned so yes, you can be the best by indulging!

When I was still small, poker was broadcast on TV, I liked this game even then, the broadcast began at 2 am and I secretly watched from my parents until the morning. we do not play live poker and with the advent of online poker I can play the game I liked since childhood. it has many good qualities that can even be compared with chess, makes you think, predict
