In the long - very long - run it is 100% skills.
In the shorter run:
Tournaments: 80% luck and 20% skills
Cash games: 80% skills and 20% luck

What do experts say about how much luck and how much skill are involved in poker, and what percentages do they usually give to each when it comes to winning for both new and experienced players?
I think it’s fluid. The more skills you have the less luck you need.

I think 90% is luck, even if some people say otherwise, and I think it's ridiculous to study poker for several hours

I think a lot depends on the format and structure of the tournaments. If we talk about hyper tournaments or Spin & Go tournaments, I think that luck is 80% and skills are only 20%. But if we talk about regular tournaments, where the blinds grow for 10 minutes or more, then 80% is skill and 20% is luck.

The balance between luck and skill in poker varies depending on the game type, player experience, and the duration of play. In the short term, luck plays a significant role, as anyone can win or lose based on the randomness of the cards. However, over the long term, skill becomes far more dominant, as experienced players consistently make better decisions and capitalize on weaker opponents' mistakes. Most experts estimate that poker is around 70-80% skill and 20-30% luck over the long haul. In tournaments or cash games, skilled players tend to outperform luck over time.

In my opinion, I think skill is around 75% and luck is 25%, if you play a tournament that lasts 4 to 7 hours, you notice that skill is more necessary to win or stay in the tournament than luck.

I think in online poker, the ratio of skills to luck is 50/50. Otherwise, I would have become a professional player a long time ago :)

In live poker skill is more important gor succces full players , but live neither luck or skill matters . Only if you are able to play with rng , to manipulate results . It's not rigged or not rigged debate or rant , it's s reality .

Short term poker involves quite some luck. Long term - which is the only thing that matters - poker is 0% luck and 100 skills. Keep in mind though that the long run can be very long.

Depends on MTT blind length. The shorter the blind level the more luck involved. The longer the blind level the less the involved.

For cash the long run is all that matters.

Cheers!!!

In the short term, it's 80:20 in favor of luck.
In the long run, I think it's 80:20 in favor of skill.

I think luck is important in poker. Many times I have a strong hand but things turn against me on the last card so luck is important.

70/30
Both are important, but skill may trump luck more, especially with a lucky player who doesn't have poker skills

In poker, luck is only valid in the short term, in the long term what matters is skill 70% skill and 30% luck

Over time skill will overcome luck! Poker is based on percentages . The more hands you play the more skill will outshine luck ;)

Talking about being profitable, skill is everything in long term. But to win a mtt, you will need a minimum of luck. It's impossible to do this without being all in several times. And even you are ahead all the hands, the odds are there.

In the long run, when playing cash, luck doesn't matter. Only skills... But in tournaments - Yes, luck is important.
