I think it might be the other way round, "What have I learned from Life, that I can take to the Poker table" and that has to be "Patience" and "Drive" to become better at the game.
I study Poker from Book's and Video's, just as I studied at School, and being patient waiting for good thing's to happen even if it is just waiting for Christmas or a Birthday to come around.
When I first started playing Hold-em I could never understand why I couldn't win a single Free-roll, even though I understood the Stud and 5 Card Draw games I played for years, and did well at, because Poker is Poker Right!
Wrong! Hold-em is a totally different Monster and need's to be approached in a different way, also playing different forms of Hold-em whether it is a Cash Game or SnG or even an MTT, they all have different approaches, having the ability to adapt and approach each game with a different playing style, is paramount when you want to be successful at the game.
It took me a while before I made the money in a free-roll, and even though it was only a few Cents, I never gave up, because Life has taught me to be determined, and to do my best at whatever I choose to do.
When the fun Stops, STOP!
(but don't give up)
