A few lads from college used to play online. Seemed like easy money......seemed

Used to deposit quite often but through hard work I became a winning player.

Evertongirl, did you ever play at Sky Poker?

Living in Oklahoma with nothing to do.... Got really bored and already liked poker a lot. Downloaded pokerstars and was hooked. Played everyday, all day. Was so much fun and meeting all the players was even better. Now Im pretty burned out. :goodnight So i play off and on since i am not doing well playing too much. Playing off and on is resulting in way better results. Not getting dealt set up hands. Instead my hands hold. Mostly... Good luck all.

No never played on Sky Poker, I cancelled Sky at the end of 2007 and I think Sky Poker started after that date, not 100% sure though.

I was in my prime in the bar every night . i noticed i couldnt handle my booze anymore and was getting real sick every day. so i went to the dr and found out i had diabetes and a more serious stomach condition and if i continued to drink i may die soon. I found with no bar time i was just depressed and bored so i downloaded poker stars and farted around a bit then i was hit by a mailtruck lmao (not a lie) and i found i had an amazing 15 or more hrs to just play poker so i did for about a yr. That was 10 years ago or more and today im better / still dont drink and am very greatfull for online poker as it def improved my health ... im 40 with 1 year old daughter and never been so healthy....

My interest in poker first developed when they started airing coverage of WPT events on a local sports channel. During one of the episodes, PokerStars advertised a series of freerolls for Canadian players. I downloaded their program and was impressed with the variety of games and the quality of their software. I particularly enjoyed the fact that I could play with people from all over the world at virtually any hour of the day.

was on a vacation and a friend invited me to a game and paid my 5 dollar buyin. there were 16 people, payouts were $60 for first, $15 for second, $5 for third. after asking my friend a zillion times what hand beat what, I started.

Hours later, exhilarated and having fun, I was heads up with about even stacks with another guy (my friend busted about the middle.) lost it on a flip with pockets 6s vs his A8 offsuit (he hit the eight.) Gave my buddy ten, kept five, and have been enjoying playing every since when I got the opportunity, which was rare until I learned the existence of online play.

My love for poker started at a peculiarly young age. I was 7 or 8 and I came across a job-lot sale of Game Boy games for a pound a pop. My mother bought me the whole box of around twenty and I stumbled across a poker game. I've been hooked ever since, playing anyway possible.

It's kind of a silly dream, but since I was around 11/12 it's been my dream to play in the WSOP main event. Hopefully one day I'll get there.

It was written to a friend in a computer game. world series of poker was the name of the game. That's how I got into poker. Then I started three years ago online poker. I started today and is mostly playing this freeroll tournaments. I win some money, then micro-stakes SNG play until you have money, then again freeroll. This is a cat - I want to be a professional player harc.Természetesen mouse, but still need a lot of exercise and money.

WSOP Main Event on TV

I'd only played poker a few times over the years, never holdem and never well. I watched the Main Event on TV and liked to game and liked that the commentary gave me some insight into the game. Tried a freebie site and got my butt handed to me in short order something like 4 times and walked away. A year or so later seen the Main Event again and gave it another shot. This time I think it was Poker Stars and played their play money sit and go's. Did really well racked up a huge pile of play money then couldn't get my credit card to work for a real cash game. My card did work with Full Tilt and I never looked back. (just a word of warning stay away from baccarat you can loose your whole bank roll in one session).

All of these things kind of happened at once when I first heard about poker in the mid 00's. Hooked ever since!

  • Chris Moneymaker (an amateur) winning the WSOP ME qualifying through a cheap online satellite
  • The movie "Rounders"
  • Explosive growth of poker on TV (WPT especially)
  • Explosive growth of poker on the internet (Partypoker, Pokerstars, the birth of forums etc).

Well I guess my story sounds similar to others in some aspects. I had a few buddies that started to play and host a home game. Mostly we were all getting hammered and playing. After playing a few times, I realized I had a lot to learn and there was money to be won at these drunken home games. It was time to take the game more seriously, and I have been trying to ever since. By this time the poker boom was just hitting and some friends and relatives were starting to play online poker, including my father. At this point, we only had dial up, and one computer in the house. So I was mostly watching my dad play, and after seeing him win some money, I knew I could do much better. After that, I bought a laptop, and ditched the dial up. And it's been poker ever since. So I guess it was friends and money.

I saw a banner on a website, clicked on it, and signed up. The site, which is no longer in existence, had a high hand for the day on cash tables where you would win $100. I hit it 3 times in one week and have been into poker ever since. Of course it was not that big of a site.

About 10 years ago I was introduced to the game from a buddy and fell in head first without looking back. He just told me about it showed me how to play and I was hooked. I should have taken your route and read some books to get an edge but with early success I thought I "didn't need it". I wish I would have approached the game correctly from the beginning and never took a break. IMO long breaks are the worst thing for your game at least that has been my experience. I now am back in the game trying to play correctly and loving it more than ever!

I was always against computers and all the online social sites. Hearing all the horror stories of how marriages were breaking up and kids were committing suicide because other were using them to bully.
I have always played home games with family and friends but living in the bible belt, no casinos were ever close enough to play any tournament on a regular basis. Then I seen where Chris Moneymaker won a seat to the wsop by playing online poker and its been on ever since. Now I know more about computers than I ever dreamed of and can type more than than three words a minute .lol .Oh and now I'm a poker addict .
