It's my 10 year anniversary on this forum, and then I was thinking, well this is a long time, so what has changed for you in poker during the last decade?

Poker has changed so much in the last 10 years and mostly it has got worse.
10 years ago I worked as a prop on quite a few sites getting up to 120% rakeback which was great.
On the defunct Crypro network there was a $100 bonus available every much which was not too hard to get.
These days basically rakeback is dead and any available are not worth bothering with.
I hate that most sites, ie Party etc do not have chat boxes which takes a lot away from my enjoyment they just seem out of vogue these days.
I don't play anywhere as much these days because for me most of the enjoyment has gone but I guess that is just that I am getting old the things are
changing.

In the 2013 was the best year for poker, it was very popular, now it still is popular but now I think has much more marketing on it, for example now are a lot of players involved on it.

I started playing almost 2 years ago, when I turn 10, I hope to be living on income, like the money I'm going to earn from poker.

Yes.
online poker is nothing like it used to be. I too miss the social aspect of it from the past. I wish I had taken some screenshot of some of the chat on Fulltilt. (hmm... something just occurred to me... I might actually have some chat saved on an old laptop. I think I'll pull it out later today & have a look. It was while chatting with 'The Pros' on Fulltilt Poker. Gavin Smith comp'd me a dinner for two at Greg Mueller's steakhouse! )

The chat was fun back then. You could chat with people from all over the world & in the many private forum games you'd see the same players over & over - - it was great! (now you can't even chat on many sites)

The choice of games back then was also far superior! The structures were better, the satellites were WAY better. The rakeback, the bonuses, the special freerolls, the forum competitions! (OFC Online Forum Challenge), some of the other popular forums, ie. Railbirds, SuitedPockets, HoldemPokerChat, etc. etc.). Now it's Hyper this, and SPIN that, cheat sheets, RTA, GTO, LMNOP, XYZ who gives a fck. It sucks!

Nothing in particular has changed. Unless they began to use more software.

you're 10 years old but you've never interacted until now. Tell me why you are now active on the forum. Honestly, I became active last year. Because I saw that they were doing tournaments at 888 and I already had an inactive account on some occasion that would sign up for pokerstars for sure!

In the 10 years that I have been playing poker, I can say that I have exceeded many of my goals in tournaments and tables, and I understand the game more!

I don't know how much the world of poker has changed, but I'm interested to know what those who have more time in poker think.

Not much has changed for me.
The top players from the 2000/2010 era are still top.
Some have retired for prioritizing their family after playing and winning for a long time in the case of Jason Mercier and others.
Today there is a fashion for me to bluff a lot and take it as a big win.
Online you have many all-in players, you have to know how to play them.
Today there are many schools where an aggressive game is touted. In truth, that game has never worked for me, neither has the ultra-passive one. I like Doyle Brunson's game to attack when you have to and be passive and counterattack. Very wise.
I currently like the Spanish Zeros game, but what I don't like is that when he plays online he does so with the famous little board. I think he shouldn't do it because he plays a lot live and it doesn't work for him there. The game for me must be carried mentally.
Today the woman has a great space in poker and that is very good.
For me poker is still the traditional game where everything adds up, strategies, math and skill accompanied by a touch of luck when you need it.
greetings friend:):):)

10 years ago, poker wasn't 100 percent calculated by software. And now cheaters are using it, and now it is very difficult for poker rooms to resist this.

Ten years is a good chunk of life, it's something to appreciate, well done to you. I've been deprived of poker for more than 15 years and now I feel old-fashioned, maybe I've lost too many opportunities

Nowadays poker is more popular and accessible to everyone thanks to the Internet. Luckily it's full of recreational facilities.

Wow yeah thanks for the memories, I also remember OFC, suitpockets etc, cos I played so many of the freerolls and some were amazing like some had wsop seats, some had the whole buyin for APT or whatever it was, it was gonna happen in Australia and I had to split the prize with another guy cos it was on DuplicatePoker, and I had TonyG berating me in the email when I was just wanting the cash cos I couldn't afford to go to australia with just a satellite ticket instead of the actual ticket. Man it would have been nice if they "duplicated" the package and gave us both the full thing ^^; i would have played.

Omg what a comp you got from Gavin, how nice!!! Yeah I do remember it being more social. Now when there is chat or emojis, its very antisocial and i wanna turn off the guy spamming "you suck" to people on the table playing cash games ToT its like cmon.

yeah i remember the rake was alot better even tho i was mostly playing freerolls and just doing the deposit bonuses.

Everything used to be better, we were younger and more handsome. ;)
But all kidding aside. A lot has really changed, and not for the better.

The choice of variants was greater, there were super rake back and bonuses almost everywhere. There were tournaments without late registration. The games were much softer and as some have already mentioned there was also more and entertaining chat at the tables.

Even a zero like me made it to the mid stakes and won some money.

But it's all for nothing, we old people have to adapt. If we didn't still enjoy the game, I don't think we would be here anymore.

So let's go, let's show the young girls and boys how to play poker properly.

There's been an evolution in poker. Today there are great opportunities for learning and advancement, online software is used, it is played much more aggressively...

Online poker changed a lot in the last 10 years, specially after the black friday.
- Most of known rooms are closed now (FT, Absolute, UB, Everest), until GGpoker was launched, PS dominated the online scenario for many years
- The games are harder to win than when I started - too many regulars
- The promotions are worse - in my opinion, this happened in all rooms, not just PS
- It became way more popular in my country (brazil) and in others countries too
