When everyone was talking accusations of a slow roll after the wsop main event this year, I remembered when I was accused of a slow roll.
ALSO NOTE, I DO WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS...
Know this... I have no obligation to reveal the strength of my hand to you.
A slow play allows me to confuse my opponent. I do not have to bet every time I get my straight. If there is no further action to be taken after mine and I procrastinate anyways in showing you the best hand, that is just annoying and is what I would consider a slow roll.
For instance, in a casino tournament I was raised by an opponent holding 5-6 and the flop was 7-8-9. I had 9-10. She raised significantly and i called. Next card came a jack, giving me my straight. I immediately checked and she raised me, then I of coarse in turn re-raised. Next card came, I did not want to make it obvious that I had the 10, so pushing all in was out of the question. I raised this time though, and she called. Other players around the table accused me of a slow roll because i did not bet when I got my jack. I just pride myself on being a tough read as apposed to immediately raising as a reaction to a completed straight or pushing all in.
That was a "slow play," not a "slow roll." I would have thought any card player wouldn't have to hear that, but apparently some do.
I only consider something a "slow roll" when there is no further action to be taken and I am procrastinating revealing the winning hand. That's just annoying.
