I've played live sessions a total of 6 times counting today. And this summer I've been trying every weekend 4-8 hrs per session or 2 buy-ins up. I've lost a lot of value pre-flop by not three betting--open in places that I should in mp and late position, because I'm scared I'm gonna get donked.

Backstory: Last weekend somebody limped with AA'ces 5 callers, AKs on the button for me which I RR'd I get cooler'd losing about 2/3 of stack once aces paired. I know that this is no way to think given variance and all; adapting to different tables is super important too.

And today looking at hands post flop that i folded where I had tremendous value or even QKsuited in Mp and not raising after limps in-front make me sick. It's like I'm thinking these guys are playing 3-d chess, when my only mission should be playing +ev.

I have a pretty decent bankroll and money to splurge, I was up over 600 yesterday and lost 105 today. Today different table types. I think I'm no longer going to be trying to out reverse psychology my opponents. I have to start opening 3bet, re-raising limpers, and trusting my game. It's funny because I do all of this online in tournaments, but for some reason I don't pull the trigger in cash games even with 99's and 10 10's in mp. I'm gonna try and get that leak shored up because I'm losing too much value.

One thing I have learned between playing and watching people play is that you can’t play scared, you have to believe that your hand is the best hand and watch the cards on the table. I’ve made the mistake a bunch of times when I’ve had boats or 4 of a kind and had folded pre flop. If you have a 1/2 way decent hand you can’t be scared to play it

This is because online poker and live poker is 2 different games! You can be the king in online, and you can have problems playing live games. I,m sure, you just need a bit more experience in live games and soon you will be ok in live games too.

We do not know what are the opponents cards if they are AA or KK! It is nice when you tried your QQ and a Q appears at the flop or at river!

Hello.
Personally, I play only in tournaments. I do not play cash games because I always lose. In my opinion, tournaments are much easier to play.

Tournament players dont tend to play scared because they have already risked the maximum they will lose. Cash game players are totally different, when the chips carry actual displayed values - its a bit tougher to put your money in.

I struggled with this myself early on, played way too snugg and tho i did ok, i missed alot of value hands my first few live games. You MUST get over that fear to improve your game, from my last 11 sessions 9 have been profitable. The last session i played i lost $400. I am ok with that, i played close to my best, i bet my hands when they were good, they just wouldnt hold and i made one crucial mistake. It happens, overall tho recently i have done well. I hope i win 9 more out of the next 11 sessions lol.

Anyhow, once you get past "scared money" you will see a great increase in your game

The great Phil Ivey once said, "as soon as you start to think I could have done this or I could have done that, with that money, you're done!"
