Last night in a game I was dealt pocket sixes. When my turn to bet came I raised, the player next to me called and so did the next player Three of us in the pot. The flop was three small cards that could make a straight. I made a followup bet, the player next to me shoved the next player called so I folded my sixes. They both had pocket fours, I would have won the hand.
The very next hand I get pocket aces, I shove. I'm called by ace, king off, a pair of kings on the flop. I lose again.:eek::eek:

Im the most even kilter person I know, and tilt still affects me sometimes. Luckily it doesnt last too long for me. I'll lose about two more buy ins before I learn my lesson for the night.

Yeah, I guess more than 90% of poker is losing, and most of the times with a good hand, as we don't play weak hands. But why tilt? Somebody has to lose and you don't celebrate either, when you beat a stronger hand, do you? See it just as a part of the game, say your move was correct and try again. Next time you might beat the rockets with your lucky sevens or mighty ducks...

good afternoon friends .. in your first hand the mistake was yours to throw your pairs knowing that the flop was very favorable. normally your rivals will enter with strong cards .. and the next hand was already part of the variance .. relax and move on .. greetings .

Situations at the table that you describe are standard and it's not clear what caused the tilt. Annoyed because you dropped the pocket sixes? And how often can you win two opponents in the all-in with this hand? Are you annoyed that you are doing the right thing? Or is it that you got involved in a hand-held poker game? If your right actions cause you tilt, do not you think that poker is not for you, because understand that poker is not a game of guessing victory, but a set of rational actions! ..

tilt can destroy anyone. ive seen very good players punt off a huge stack after a bad runout, or sick beat. If someone tells you they don't get tilted EVER.... well you are talking to a liar. What seperates the great players from the decent/good players is the ability to first realize they are about to tilt and then be able to take action to minimize the effect it has on future hands played.

In such cases, I always do a break and it always helps me. I do not play poker at all if I do not feel a stable emotional state. In my opinion, we must enjoy the game but not psychological trauma.

What you describe is not tilt, but variance.
Two of the more difficult things in poker:
- get someone to fold the best hand (you were just unlucky against a bluff/donk&calling station)
- to know when your beaten and fold AA

Hi.
If I feel that I can not control the game, I just stop playing. It's better to get up and go for a walk, relax. When you feel that you control your emotions then you can continue the game.
Good luck.

Whenever I feel I'm tilting, ESPECIALLY against some donk play, I fold the next hand, no matter what I get. Seems to help me get back on even keel and I can move on.

I've always found that keeping something positive to do near my laptop while I'm playing is always a pretty good shield against tilt. I don't have any decent poker tracking software yet, so most of my records I keep by hand. When I take a beat or feel a little tilted, I go into the book and look over some hands I've written down, or take a look at my progress *not much of that yet*, maybe try to refine my bankroll management or work on how I want to progress in upcoming weeks. I always feel like after I've done any of that, I have a bit more of a sense of purpose, and it generally helps to get myself righted.

All of the above is good advise. I agree you've got to shake it off and move on. In this particular case it was the straw that broke the camels back. I had been having bad luck all night, and when my aces got cracked, that was it for me. I went on to win a little cash so it wasn't all bad.

Feeling tilted is one thing. Still having the discipline to make the right decision while under duress is what is most important.
