I was playing 50 ftps satellite daily dollar sng. I was on the phone while looking up a good Thai restaurant near Rowland Heights for my friend who was lost there. So I accidently stalled two turns, where normal timer(not the manual timer where u have to click to get additional time) would go down completely. Some people there were yelling and barking, saying "hurry the f up." "retarded froggy. i'm gonna kill you" blah blah blah

I know this is a dick move but since 3-4 people were yelling at me, I got pissed. So instead of insultin back, I decided to stall time and let the normal timer go down normally on EVERY hand. The table started getting pissed after like 20 minutes. They were so burned out like as if they were trapped in a jail that they just shoved all-in with T7o and 4 7o. I eventually won and got top two place for entry to daily dollar. In the end, when the guy who kept yelling said he was gonna report me, I wrote "Why do you report me? I didn't violate any rules. I was playing poker. I was thinking about what I should do on every hand. But I will report you for using lot of profanity on the chatbox. Kids can be watching. You are bad influence to kids. So I am going to report you also. I get screenshot"

I know I was being a completely jerk and a dick in this sng. It was intentional to respond back to those pos. Sorry for embarrasing myself in front of cardschat. But is stalling time intentionally illegal? Can you get banned from it? I was laughing so hard when I was stalling every hand, changing emotions every second using my froggy. I stalled so much time that it took almost an hour to finish turbo sng.

The only time I didn't stall is when I have pocket Aces and cutoff shoved. I instantly called because it would be considered slow-rolling if I stall to call all-in bet with no more additional betting left. I only stalled when I'm folding.

Hope you learned something from this, I have used this tactic from time to time, I sometimes do that shit on purpose to piss people off, what I have noticed is people become antsy and pissed and make dumb all in moves, what you did is legal and very smart in some circumstances, you see you pissed them off so bad they made dumb moves that they would have not made and by doing so you placed. I say the hell with them, make them wait, and while your at it open up a beer, I dont get mad at people taking their time or running the clock, as matter fact when people start bitching I tell to them to shut the F__K up and let the guy make his call, Im drinking a beer, the more time they take the more beer I can drink, fine by me.

I don't know the answer to your question but it's very very unfortunate that you ruined the game for all the players at the table. It's also interesting that you state that you know you were a jerk, but also mention laughing so hard and brag about winning in the following paragraph. It doesn't sound like your concerned about anybody else but yourself, "Can I get banned?" It would seem that intentional misuse of your allowable time would be subject to at least a warning or suspension if you were reported. One last thought, I wonder if you would have done the same thing at a live table?

It's certainly not illegal or against the site policy, otherwise they wouldn't have given you the time bank in the first place.

Whether it's a good idea to be doing it is another question. The less hands you play the less chips you can accumulate, so assuming you're a good player you want to be seeing as many hands as possible and that makes stalling a bad idea.

Major LOL at people getting that tilted in a satellite to the Daily Dollar though. We're talking about pocket change here people...

It isn't illegal but it is a bit jerkish. People want to either enjoy the game or get hands in. For some of them it might even be +EV to shove lose and play another instead lol. It might have been funny but try not to ruin peoples enjoyment of the game for a daily dollar sattelite.

i personaly do not like it but i do not berate other players for taking there time.In your case they where very rood to u and the only reason u did it is because of that.

If they spoke to u nicely i think then u must make an effort not to waist time.

It is against policy.

Has already been discussed before in this thread

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/tournament-poker-59/

so yes they start giving you warnings if you made a habit of it.

Further evidence, from Titan`s rules:

"Any breach of these rules will result in the player being contacted and will carry the risk of suspension or ban from the poker room.........
Timely play - We understand that, occasionally, you may require some thinking time when playing. Please however consider the other players and try to make every effort not to slow up the progress of the game."

Further evidence, from Party Poker`s rules:

"Don't stall. Regardless of the game or tournament it hurts you and everybody else at the table."

Well Done Pokerlovesme, Congrats on winning the ticket,
POS like this will never learn, lol.
Ignore the comments from some of our members that you ruined the game, it sounds like the game was already ruined by the pos.

Way to make yourself look like a douche bag, IMO.

You stalled time already because you weren't paying attention and the table/some players got mad at you, but then you deliberately stalled just to a be a dick. Why add fuel to the fire? I guess you feel you were justified to do so because they didn't say nice words in the chat, huh? Either report them or man up and say 'Hey, my bad-I was away from the computer' and play on. It was your fault from the start.

I never use stalling as a form of getting even or just being mean. I would sit out for awhile or just play lock hands. But the guy that was yelling was the one who needed to be reported.

[?] stalling is against the rules
[x] OP comes across as a bit of a douchebag
[ ] insta-calling with aces to avoid being seen as a slow-roller makes sense given that OP is stalling every hand

I would wish I had done that before.lol. They were getting mad right from the start, what is with that? After getting them on tilt that was funny.
I have been in tourneys before, ones with over 10,000 players and you know it is going to take a long time. That is if you want to make it to the end. Someone uses their time and the table goes balistic. lol If they are not going to donk out, what difference does it make to have to wait for 10 seconds?
I can see where it was getting a little old though. I would have went back to normal play myself and kept chat off for a while. I have seen some players do it on purpose to make the table mad. Usually works.

It's perfectly legal, but very rude. At a casino, you might be asked to stand up.

stalling is always part of the bubble and is in no way illegal.

I have played for six hours + in tournaments and I know what happens when the bubble is approach. 10 - 15 seconds will not effect me or my play.
Stalling happens at every buy in !

Read the other thread to which Stu linked, gentlemen, where you will see ample evidence that it is in fact illegal at most online poker rooms.

Of course, we all know that it is fairly common in practice. That does not mean it is permissible. In the same way, chatting in languages other than English is banned at most rooms but still continues because enforcement is lacking.

some poker clients has a option to turn the chat off. that why do you dont have to listen to the harassment there. But to answer your question it not illegal to stall. I do it all the time to slow play action. But if you go pass your time then the game will auto fold or check you cards and then put you to sit out stats until you return

idk

I dont know if its technically against the rules, but they should just change it. Instead of having 10 or 15 sec for every move, including a preflop fold, they should have different amounts for every action. For example, preflop you get 5 sec, but later you get 15 or something. It could also change with the pot size, time in tourney, etc. It just seems ridiculous to give so much time for someone to click the fold button, but obviously there are times where you need 15 sec.

Don't know that i have done this to piss people off. You are kinda a jerk off for the stalling, but they were being jerk offs first. Seeing as how you did it and people were so annoyed they went all in with crap doesn't say much about their play.

I see that technically it is not legal to constantly stall so as long as you don't always do it then you should be good.

Also, I think people that say they are going to turn a person in is weak.

Really..... You didn't like someones play so you are going to tell on them.
come on grow a pair and move on.

I played in a 1-point 15 seat satalite on AP this morning. The format is 1500 chips, blinds go up every two minutes. I'm pretty sure we were on level four before we saw a flop - it was funny as hell.

I wasn't about to get mad about one of my ten thousand Absolute Points.

But it did make me LOL
