Honestly sometimes I slowroll. It is a part of my strategy especially I am the chip leader. If there is a penalty I won't do it but if there is none I will continue to do it.

I don't think there should be a penalty. online poker loses much of the psychological characteristic of the game because there is no eye to eye. Using artifice to irritate an opponent is part of poker. Train the patience you owe my young padawan.
If you want to punish your opponent, win him!

I will send you private message in russian
I read it. A square of aces or another higher combination in my hands does not oblige me to make a quick move. I'm stalling until the last second and I'm misleading you. And your "what the hell?" even more annoying for you. It benefits me.

I don't think people who slowroll should get a penalty. Everyone is given the same time and everyone has the right to use there time at their own discretion.

If you feel, that your opponent should be punished by a floor person (I assume we are talking live poker now), because they slowrolled you, then you are frankly being a pussy and a bad loser. Sure its bad etiquette, and it can be a little annoying, that someone is trying to have a cheap laugh at your expense. But at the end of the day it did not change the outcome of the hand. You would have lost anyway. So just move on to the next hand and dont be a crybaby like Mike Matusow :D

What penalties can be in poker, this is a game without rules and punishments, what he wants and does, whether it’s a delay or a bluff, so it’s better to play on the Internet, in live poker, some people cannot stand their nerves, or others can study the player, knowing his weakness sides.

Slow rolling sucks, but so does holding a door open for someone and they glare at you while going through instead of saying thank you.

Both are rude and should not be done. A penalty for slowrolling? I think it opens a can of worms that should just be left alone.

Damn it takes forever sometimes just play
Why the hurry to play, it's not likely that you have somewhere else to be, or you have a cab waiting, otherwise you wouldn't have registered to play. Get used to it, it's our only option.

:top:
Slow rolling sucks
Not if you do it to kcanuck Dave with flopped quads. :deal:

what do you think ? what would be a good penalty for them ?

Probably, you play 1-2 tables, tourneys in the same time, anyway it wouldn't disturb you, recommend you play hyper and turbo, they can't really slow play there.

I often do it, too, in ITM bubbles, satellites.

Anyway, you don't know what the other person does next to poker, sometimes I play 1-2 tourneys, when my main activity is different next to that, so it looks like I slow play, meantime not really just focus for something else...

Penalty? it can be annoying sometimes, but penalty??...(how do you imagine that, they should send you 'compensation' or sit them out from 5-10 hands? or do you have any other nuts idea???)
you ran out from patiance eventually, I guess, because of that, happens with everybody, one of the last thing for me, that some people slow play...

Too many players who don't know what a slowroll is. Google is your friend.

Slow rolls

I usually flip my cards quick. On Saturday there was a huge pot with two players all in and I called with an open ended straight draw. The odds where there to call but I didn’t think I would hit. The river gave me a straight. I was so shocked I just stared at it for 10 seconds. To me it was a slow roll and I apologized. Nobody else seemed to mind.

There are no rules for this type of performance in the game of poker. All penalties must be clear and be provided for in writing.

Penalized? I dont think so , if anybody is away from PC or Mobile and its afk, its just a 1-2 hands and he is a sitting out place, but sometimes as well its just a tactic before a places paid for example to hold yourself as much as u can to grab the last place paid but shouldn't be penalized anyway .

I don't think so because he is away from the computer or cell phone and it may take a while but it can even be a strategy

My friend loves to slowroll, albeit with the worst hand every time to show a busted flush draw or something.

stalling is one strategy. if it pisses you off and you start playing worse, I'll stall. there's no penalty in the rules of the room.

One of the "unwritten" rules of respectful play....With a lot of very very young players becoming more prominent, I would think there would be more happening.
But then again, being over aggressive doesn't mean you are not going to go along with the masses and not slow roll knowing that it is real disrespectful.

I think the topic is about our opinions, not about how it is. Even question is "should", not "are".

Well you can certainly get penalised for threatening someone at the table! He didn't even keep it going that long, pretty brief and was meant more of a joke as they knew each other. It's funny when you think of the amount he has made and blows his gasket. But some people do find it bad etiquette. But threatening players like that is very abusive.

This does not happen very often. A person will do this once, and ruin his reputation for a long time. In online poker, you may never meet this player again.

I wouldn't do it, but I think it's a valid strategy. It can tilt our opponents and so give us an advantage in future hands. Poker is a game of deception - bluffing and trapping could be seen as poor sportsmanship by tricking opponents, but are accepted because the game is about winning chips. Slow rolling can also allows us to win more chips in future hands, so I don't think you could justify punishing it.

Slow rolling is a style of play, it is useful when the prizes are close and the player is taking time to get to the prizes.
