Running hot or Cold

It really seems to me that you get nights where hands hit and cards are good and everything goes well. For example last night I had AA FIVE times in one tournament, and each of them won. (Sometimes pre-flop with a raise).
I hit the river to win with 1 out and just couldn't miss.

Tonight, I didn't have many hands and those I had didn't hit and went out when a worse hand hit the river to beat.

Some nights it's great and some nights it's terrible..... is that true or just a trick of the mind?

Yes there are just nights those cards can be so cold you might get frost bit. Other the deck just hits you over and over again.

Sounds like Poker to me.....I rarely win with Aces or King Ace...but it is just too tempting to fold

Ιt is a mathematic sequence, so there will be promissing days and days with poor hands. But even in the days with poor hands you can find something that will flip the situation!

The key to AA is to raise high enough

The key to AA is to raise high enough to keep enough people with marginal hands such as AJ,A10,KQ off and to get rid of the limpers. I always try to raise enough to make it a heads up or 3 person hand. Of those 5 wins with AA, do you remember how many were in preflop?

The cards definitely can run in streaks

It's always nice to get those games
where you get winning cards every few hands,
and make final table or even win the tourney

the downside is the "cold" deck

I hate sitting at a table where you may play for an hour
and get nothing but trash hands, maybe a couple of winning hands,
and only mostly marginal hands for the whole tourney

It's sooo boring -- but that's Poker

Playing hot and cold hands refers to the strategy of entering into a pot solely on the basis of the hand's merit before the flop. Running a hand hot and cold generally means that you're willing to play out your cards with no more betting after the flop.
Depending on the situation, you can choose any of these strategies.
