Hi All,

I have played poker sporadically over the 18months or so. I have never taken it too seriously and set myself targets or managed my bank roll correctly which usually results in losing my bank roll whilst on tilt. I have decided to that I want to learn as much as I can to become a better player. I have read most of the tips/strategies on here and was wondering if anyone has links to other good reading material/youtube channels?

Also, what sites do people find the best? I use pokerstars but of the threads I have read I see a lot of negativity towards it (often referred to as Jokerstars)...

Thanks for the responses

Hello! I'm also a novice player. I heard that in poker room 888poker you can start because there are the smallest bets.I was told that this is a fairly reliable casino!
I have not played there yet, but I'm going to!:angel:

I just started up again recently and started to read about poker math. I just finished a book called Essential Poker Math by Alton Hardin. It is the basics where you will learn about pot odds, implied odds, equity and +/-EV. It was a good beginner math book but for something more in depth look elsewhere. I am currently trying to find a good intermediate poker math book but got side tracked and am currently reading Kill Everyone by Lee Nelson. It's about tournament strategy. If you also have recommendations let me know as I am looking.

Good Luck on your poker journey.

You can learn to play well if you play a lot. The more you play the better you'll play

I advise you to research more on the internet how to maintain your bankroll, and game tactics, I believe you will find a lot of material about your questions
I like Pokerstars, but we have 888poker which is good too.
Good luck at the tables

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have read most of the strategies on here regarding Bankroll Management and game strategy. If I find any other good links to other articles on the web I will share them on here.

I'm a big fan of Pokerstars. They have the best, slickest, fastest, most reliable software and the most players and games. I've tried most of the other bigger sites and have never found one even close to Pokerstars.

See reviews on youtube of the levels you are playing, this will help you and see if you should continue at the same level or down. There is a lot of material for us beginners.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already use youtube and listen to the analysis of the hands. The youtube channels I have found helpful are Doug Polk, Grisped Poker and The Poker Guys for anyone who is struggling to find a good channel.

For a beginner it is good to study well the game to define a style of play and start playing with dummy chips of pokerstar, putting your learning in practice.
