The new issue of CardPlayer magazine unveils the shot clock poker table and reads "IMEDTABLES" "The wait is over... The "SHOT CLOCK" is here."

It has increments of 15-30-45-60 and 90 seconds. The About Us sections states:
www.timedtables.net said:
We live for the game and we know how painful it can be sitting in a game with slow play when you already have formulated a move in your head before it gets to your action. This is the sole reason we have developed this technology for the players out there who feel there needs to be a change in poker to speed up the game.
"Fast drivers hate being slowed down by traffic"
Try Timed Tables today, we know you will be amazed!

What do you think?

I read the article from Card Player. Would like to see this implemented into tournament play, definitely increase hands per level and decrease the need to call the floor for a clock.

Unsure if this will take off for cash games, (According to Card Player article: casinos have an option to turn off clock).

I like the idea. I think it will change live poker if it catches on...possibly for the better? I would imagine casinos will like a faster paced game.

It may be intimidating to new players, possibly causing a reduction in "new fish" to the game.

LOL @ buying a whole new table to solve that problem.

My local casino has been using kitchen timers for years to enforce a shot clock. Seriously. Ordinary kitchen timers. No new tables or refurbs required. If that's good enough for the biggest poker room in the southern hemisphere...

I'm 100% certain that everyone knows that there are other timers in all the land, however, this table obviously integrates the shot clock smoothly and is beneficial to players and dealers alike. While a casino may not NEED to get a table like this to enforce a shot clock (and a good portion won't, even if they do enforce the rule), they now have a fully integrated system. From what you're saying, it sounds like they reset an egg timer after every action to count down for the next action. Doesn't sound very accurate or player-friendly.

I like the idea of a shot clock. I mean there are only so many different scenarios that one could be thinking about...I usually have made my mind up rather quick if I'm calling or folding

I don't wanna rain on anybody's parade, but that's a home game table, not a casino-grade one.

Since it still uses a live dealer plus real chips and cards, a casino would have to refurb it and cut holes to fit a drop box, ideally a shuffle machine too, and I'm guessing the fancy display ring will get in the way of that. The control panel is placed right where the dealer would normally be shuffling too, it'd have to be moved.

I guess the manufacturer could fix all of that if a casino ordered a whole heap of them. But if you're going to go to all that trouble just to implement a shot clock, you may as well go with an off-the-shelf product like the PokerPro table that has all sorts of other benefits besides, like eliminating chips, cards and dealers, speeding up the game even more.

I'd insist on one if I had a home game. Wonder how much it costs?

This is great; anyone who has ever had to call the clock on someone knows how awkward it can be and the bad relationships it creates at the table. Would love to see it implemented, although I doubt it ever will be.

It makes game better. and combines the clock to table.
think most players, casinos, and TV broadcasting program will all say "Yes".

Oh wow - they've added a PDF advertorial to the site now and sorry to anyone who wanted a table for their home game, apparently they're not planning to sell to the general public. Just casinos and the big poker tours.

Their business case seems to be that more people will come to play tournaments at venues with these tables just because of the shot clock. I dunno about you guys, but I'm not sure there's that much of a vast untapped market of people who would play live, but are choosing not to right now just because there isn't a light-up shot clock built into the table...

Great Idea....In the last few years, it seem all the new (and some old) players who have watched tournament poker on TV are taking forever to make decision at the poker table, even when there is no real thought needed for the situation. I think there is jut a plain strategy, just to play slower and take up time.

Although I condone people to make decisions after thoroughly thinking sometimes this last forever.

This product definitely increases the competitiveness of the live game to a higher level.

Why would you do that....

Why not abuse the bubble and actually try to win or take a top 3 in a donkament. It is the only way to make money in tournament poker generally.

I never said I would switch my play or style. Just the dick who tanks every time.

Less hands = less opportunity to apply pressure....

If you think you have an edge in a donkament, you want as many hands as possible.

For you tanking might be a good idea...who knows.

In a MTT less hands can go good/bad. Less hands you are right less opportunity. Of winning big pots and losing big pots. Usually though I still win big pots. But cause table is slowed down others are dropping left and right. VERY COMMON practice in online MTT's near the bubble.

I know this an old post, but the way I see it all the more reason to of seen this table in action.

We know already that they don't sell to Joe public. We also know the bicycle casino have either got one or they trialed one as the picture is on timedtabled's twitter account.

But who else has got one, has any establishment decide to use these, or has it just flopped, I can't find any card rooms that have them.

Does anybody know?

This is just a wild guess, but if they had, I'm guessing they'd be posting pictures of it and shouting it from the rooftops to their 19 Twitter followers. Since they haven't, and they haven't even posted anything since 2014... I suspect you may have your answer.

I stand by what I said back in 2014, I just don't see there being a business case for casinos buying these tables as anything other than a novelty.
