And how is your relationship with your family in relation to poker? I remember that when I made the decision to become a professional I had zero support from my parents, I went through things that I never thought of going through in life, all this for the fight of my dream and it was with a lot of willpower and persistence that I managed to reach on my goal, and after my parents saw my study and decision routine along with the financial part happening, they started to respect me.

Poker is collective, no one plays poker alone, it's okay, most people play online.
But poker can be played as a family, among friends, and colleagues from the community where you live.
When poker is played with family it is easier to migrate from the online game to the real live game.

I'm happy for you, I don't enjoy support from the opposite side 😅 when I play poker they invent all kinds of activities or we have to debate different issues. For more than a month I haven't been able to I play quietly for 30 minutes. I hope my time will come too👍

Well done glad you are determined and proved to everyone that you make money playing and you are respected in your family because there are always few people who believe in you when you start but when you get the top, many people start believing in you this path you need to go in me always believe

The topic is very individual. My wife accepts my love for poker. She is not jealous supports me and cheers me on, and lets me know when I lose. She controls my bankroll management well lol

So does she also plays (secretly) in your account
Recently someone else pretty much (proudly?) admitted just that ^ ...

In my family I didn't suffer prejudices. But respect only came after the positive results began to appear. When the money actually started flowing into the account. I believe that even when the family is not in favor of your decision, you must persist in your goal.

I don't have a problem with that. I tell everyone I don't play with my own money. And I'm explaining that I'm playing freerolls.

Most of the population still sees poker as pure gambling so they have hard time supporting someone who tells them he/she wants to make a living out of it and when that person insists on doing it they refuse to support their path. Personally I don't even blame them as they probably just want the best for their loved ones and don't want them to go on the path they so strongly oppose. It is also fair to note that a lot of people do lose a huge amounts of their money with reckless gambling so it makes all the sense that your loved ones would oppose it if they thought you are at risk for putting your well being on the line.

I'm glad that in your case you were able to make it and that your family started to support you.

Personally I don't have such problems as poker is only a hobby for me. I do get yelled at by my wife now and then tho, but not cos I lost a few $, but because I spend to much time behind PC, while I "could be doing something more productive". :D

I'm lucky, my wife supports me in playing poker, she knows that I like this game and she has no problem in making me give it up!

I think that the family cannot interfere in your decision to play professional poker, that will depend only on you and your financial possibilities.

Hello.
In fact, I think that a family can be against it only if poker displaces real life (study, work, social communication, etc.) and negatively affects the budget. This is quite understandable, since poker is an extremely unstable and unpredictable hobby and loved ones will always worry. If this does not interfere with your real life, interaction with people and your budget does not suffer, then I see no reason for relatives to be against your poker game.🤷‍♀️

My parents were skeptical about poker for quite some time. But when I won about $1000 without investing a cent, they began to treat poker more or less normally, because they began to realize that playing poker is not necessarily losing money
