It is an interesting question or thought for sure, one that I still am not sure of. I love the game, love winning, but there is definitely something 'off' about people getting mad at you and loosing money to you, not sure I am quite ready to call it a sin, lol but it is definitely not a wholesome experience. It won't stop me from playing the game, but I also can't deny it feels pretty shitty to take others money in a game and get called a MF etc over cards. I like to think that since I play low-buy in games, it does not effect peoples lives too much if I win. Everyone understands that they could lose and "should" in theory have a proper bankroll to cover it, just the games I have played, that doesn't look the case lol.
I think a healthy balance for me is to play the game for the love of the game at low buy-ins and go with the thought that people have entered the game not at a level of any kind of desperation or hope. And if they loose, they are only out a small amount. Works for me.
And I will be honest, I have decided to learn poker simply to look at it as a second job, averaging 20 bucks an hour. In the 5 visits to Las Vegas I am averaging 70 and hour, which is just about where I want it at MAX.
I am also the kind of guy that will pay or pitch in for someone's buy in if they are last past the payout scale in a tournament due to comradery.
If I built a foundation based on greed in my life, Poker would not be the avenue lol
