Kind of a round about way of saying …. actually I have no idea. I will definitely think of this though next time I use a knife to cut into a steak or take a Tylenol for an aching muscle. :):)
This is the subjectivity of the evaluation opinion. Listen but not hear a vivid example of your comment.

Poker is an evil for impatient people. If you do not have the patience you better find another hobby, otherwise you will be very disappointed.

There is a manipulation in your question. You posted one title but used other words in the post.

Maybe gambling is a problem, as any other addiction. But poker doesn't equate poker and is not synonymous to it.

People can make addiction out of anything. For example food. But you don't say, food is evil.

I have read the keyword in most answers. self-control is the key, don't take it to the limit

So basically you are saying you need to behave responsibly, kinda like every other aspect of an adults life?
Gambling is not the most useful pastime
It can be equated with alcohol and drugs. Habituation guaranteed. Whether you can restrain yourself is up to you.

It's true. if you can control it then is O.K.. If you lose hundreds of dollars every week... Well then you have a big problem and you should seek help.

as I always say it depends on the players if you are a compulsive player then it will be difficult not to lose a lot of money, because of that situation poker is seen as something bad, but when we have good prospects then we could manage it then it becomes very good poker

It is an interesting question or thought for sure, one that I still am not sure of. I love the game, love winning, but there is definitely something 'off' about people getting mad at you and loosing money to you, not sure I am quite ready to call it a sin, lol but it is definitely not a wholesome experience. It won't stop me from playing the game, but I also can't deny it feels pretty shitty to take others money in a game and get called a MF etc over cards. I like to think that since I play low-buy in games, it does not effect peoples lives too much if I win. Everyone understands that they could lose and "should" in theory have a proper bankroll to cover it, just the games I have played, that doesn't look the case lol.

I think a healthy balance for me is to play the game for the love of the game at low buy-ins and go with the thought that people have entered the game not at a level of any kind of desperation or hope. And if they loose, they are only out a small amount. Works for me.

And I will be honest, I have decided to learn poker simply to look at it as a second job, averaging 20 bucks an hour. In the 5 visits to Las Vegas I am averaging 70 and hour, which is just about where I want it at MAX.

I am also the kind of guy that will pay or pitch in for someone's buy in if they are last past the payout scale in a tournament due to comradery.

If I built a foundation based on greed in my life, Poker would not be the avenue lol

I honestly don’t give a you-know-what anymore when I lose a big hand to a really weak player with a really weak hand. I just say to myself “I had him exactly where I wanted him” or “he walked into that one”. He won, yeah, they usually do.

So what does that tell me? It really is just a big gamble, and you should NEVER bet the family farm, or even one penny more on poker than you can EASILY afford to lose.

Poker is also called entertainment for many people. Where else from the safety of my own ho,e play a tournements for several hours for a $1.10. Poker is also a skill game. The more you learn and better skilled you are the less luck beats you.

well it can be abused of course . it is important to control yourself and not see it as gambling and also not risk too much and not play with money that you cant afford etc

but poker is VERY different from real/actual gambling like roulette , blackjack , slot machines , and even sports bets

that it ?!
poker is fun, it's a healthy pastime, just like football, swimming, a competition where players meet to see who stands out, and to know who is the best. simple.
alcohol is a form of recreation,
but you have to know that all the pleasures of life can lead to disturbances that the person himself has to know how to give him!

I don't agree with your "Habituation guaranteed" statement. Or even "Whether you can restrain yourself is up to you" in all cases. Sounds like you might be a recent participant in a twelve-step program. I once went through such a program in support for a friend who had hit rock bottom. For some, sadly, I believe it truly is a disease, but not all.

Your statement brought back an interesting memory. Years ago, I was playing a ring game in downtown Vegas. Back in those days I was getting room comps pretty much wherever I played. One player, possibly intoxicated, was making hideous plays. It was a nice bank roll I was accumulating off him, but I still advised him he should go home. He bragged that he never loses and was playing with his rent money. Then I strongly advised him he should go home. Well, he lost all his money, went home, and returned with a gun. I don't know how they knew it, but there were half a dozen security officers on him the moment he entered the door. I've always wondered if that gun was meant for me.

Poker is not evil if you know what is right or wrong. I think poker is skill. Casino is evil.

Yesterday I saw Poker trip up an (elderly) blind gentleman, steal his wallet and then run straight into a liquor store and spend all the money on tequila rosé.

Pure evil.
