I understand why sites advertise crazy bonuses to accept new players but I have yet to see one that is not complete BS. The only time I was ever able to get most of my bonus was when my initial deposit was only $20. The rate at which they release these funds is so slow that they barely make an impact and are only released if you are playing considerable size cash games. Also, most sites require you to reach these unattainable quotas within 30 days. They never tell you that if you only play tournaments its impossible to get them.

Agreeing to some of these bonuses can also negatively affect your ability to make a withdrawal - You are better off leaving these fields blank -

I completely agree with you. I signed up with 888 thinking I was going to get $8 + $88, but it's $8 in tournament tickets and the other $88 is with rake back within 30 days of first deposit. But they do give you $5 free on your birthday :). Next time I will fully read terms and conditions of bonuses.

Unfortunately it's true. You need to play a lot and at high limits to get a couple of dollars of bonus. For a beginner, this is practically not feasible, but for an experienced player - is of no interest. Carrot in front of the donkey. :p

I agree an experienced player has the possibility to keep the same deposit in play long enough to see a majority of their bonus but most players lured in and making their 1st deposit do not have a chance -

Also, I forgot to mention, the one time I did receive my bonus in complete was not only just $20 but the only reason I was able to reach it was because I was layed up in the hospital and was multi-tabling for 8-10 hours/day

They are gimmicks. The best way to ever have a chance to earn one is to build up a bankroll playing freerolls, then make a deposit and immediately start playing high stakes games. I think I once earned about $15 of my potential $100 bonus on pokerstars many moons ago.

I think I deposited about $200 and got all of it back but I went on a small heater playing way out of my bankroll. I think I got to about $800 by the end of it but lost it all within a week. I got it by playing the 6max hyper turbos in the $30-100 range

That is the reason why I don't like bonuses. For players that aren't playing cash games daily it's really hard to clear the whole bonus. And even if they do clear the whole bonus who knows what would support of some online poker rooms require next, for an example intertops Poker requires players to rake half of their freeroll winnings before they can make a withdrawal.

It is a million times worse with the casino sites. Will never hit an online casino anyway, might as well try and get lucky sending money to Nigerian royalty.
