I was thinking about buying a couple of books to help improve my game. Which books should I buy that would help the most and what parts of the books should I really focus on?
Hi!
You can start with polished poker by John Anhalt. I think it's good enough and free. There is also a workbook. It helped me a lot to understand poker better and to raise as a player.
I may be a little late regarding this thread, however I came across a couple of gems of books that steared me in the right direction.
"Texas Hold'em for Dummies" by Mark Harlan (no seriously it is an execptional book for the uninitiated)
"The Illustrated Guide to Texas Hold'em" by Dennis Purdy (there is one for limit and no limit) and
"Every Hand Revealed" by Gus Hansen. This book is a hand by hand description of how Gus Hansen won the Aussie Millions tournament in 2007. This book opened my eyes to poker plays I had never dreamed about and widened my hand range phenomenally.
I recommend beginners read all of the above before investing their hard earned cash into this harsh mistress of a game.

you need to be more specific on what type of game
Cash/MTTs/SNG NLHE Omaha etc
Reading a cash game book when you want to learn MTTS can hurt your game and vice versa
And yes, I forgot to say that Polished Poker is really good too. It's free and has a workbook with different questions and tasks so it's pretty helpful I think.
I was talking more about mmts, thank you to everyone who took time to comment I will definitely get a few of these and start reading! I will let you know how they help
This should be a Biggest theme. Please post more than one book. How they say:"Knowledge is Power".We should Learn a lot of Books and think, what we can use of this text. What I want to say is this is very important.
