You need to understand this. It should be played for fun. Not risk your life gambling your money. Other thing is that in every game somebody thrives. Somebody may be good in chess, others in something else and somebody in poker. I still think that its for everybody just not professionally. You need to know that in order to be best at something you need to devote yourself 100% to it. And its so hard. So if you are not 100% giving yourself to poker dont believe that you re gonna make money or earn a fortune or anything.

Totally agree with you that poker is a "game" and not for all to make a fortune at. As they say when you go to a casino or are playing online poker "bring what you can afford to loose" Seen too many people over the years put their life savings into a game in hopes of being the lucky winner.

its a great game indeed...luck plays a big role especially in big tournaments, im not saying that skill isnt important but its almost impossible to win a tourney just because you make good decisions, but of course the best you play the better odds you have to be a profitable player on the long run...

I would hate to tell you, but that's why you probably aren't making good money at poker. You simple believe you can't or you don't take the time to really study the game. Do you think a NFL player just plays football and wins? They study game film, eat the perfect diet etc...

This sums up what I believe about this game. Skill is important but sometimes you push those chips in while behind in a tourney, at that point I think everyone hopes they get a little lucky. Can't tell you how many time I've heard the phrase "One Time!" prayed, chanted, and shouted at the table.

Before the black friday poker commercials and the whole coverage of poker on the TV and internet made many people think that it is easy game and easy way to win big money. In fact long time ago this also made me interested in the game. Today this effect is not so strong but there are still many people (especially in developing markets) who think that they should just invest enough money and they will become good players without too many efforts. Usually they quickly realize the truth and either stop playing or invest the time and efforts needed to become better players. Pure gamblers on the other side are something completely different - they will gamble on anything and poker is no exception. They just play for the thrill of gambling.

Hello friend, I heard there once that: "Poker is a game of people who play with cards" ... Having said this as far as I am concerned, I think that poker is a game where everything is related ( luck, strategy and skill), but without a doubt in the long term the ability to make good decisions (in all that poker correctly regards) will be the winner! As I was reading this I was thinking about poker players back in the wild west. Men died over the game way more often than they do today but, I think more lives are ruined today because of a game. I would like to go back in time and play a little poker in a saloon with a few off the men just to see how it felt. I would want to take a pair of those slinky eyeball glasses to wear with me as well...lol
