I don't know, I've played against folks at the $1/2 NL live game that play worse then a lot of the play chip folks and I've played against a lot of the playchippers that play much better than folks I've played live, especially in stud at higher levels so it all depends on how serious folks take their game development and whether they just enjoy playing for fun or they're actively trying to improve it.
Totally agree. Played in vegas plenty and see plenty of all in weenies at all levels. One time was a rebuy tourney (don't get me started on how it's a "valid" strategy. please...) and dude went all in every hand from the get go. 1st three hands, total garbage, but won all 3. two of them with 2 callers. Instead of sitting pretty with his now overwhelming table advantage, he just kept it up. within 10 hands, busted out. Proceeded to rebuy five (yes! 5 more times!) and got real annoyed with me as i was just laughing at him from hand 4 on. Right in his face, no mistaking, I was calling him a donkey and anything else the dealer and pit boss would allow. He left after 5 rebuys and you could feel the steam coming off him he was fuming. Oh, yes i did quadruple my stack off him and that didn't help his mood.
That story aside, poker is poker. Is poker. Doesn't matter if you're playing high stakes on tv, 1/2 at a casino table, micro stakes online, freerolls online, playing with change with your buddies or playing for clothes... There will always be someone who will play contrary to what you think is proper/correct or will just shove it in and pray. Eventually you will be sitting with someone for to whom the stakes are meaningless and they'll "play their gut with my lucky 9,3o" or whatever. Can't stress it enough, wait them out. Play YOUR game and don't get sucked in. Get your chips in good and you will walk away with their cash more often than now. Play or cash.
