Poker is above all , a game of skill , secondary a game of luck .If luck prevailed more or less everyone on the long run would break even , but that's not the case at all . So it's mostly skill , not luck , so why would some orthodox , crazy , bible lovers would have problem with it ?? Better have probleems with the ped****** , cause most of the strict , dogmatic , fanatic , orthodox believers , haters of games of luck , considering them games of Satan , actually do practice ped*** , in my opinion that's worse than poker ....(SadLoL....... )

Playing casino is a sin, according to the Bible, but poker is not, as it is considered a strategic and calculating game, rarely involving luck and luck.
I didn't realize there were casinos when the Bible was written. Am I missing something?
Do you think Jesus would sit at a slot machine, order a glass of water, then turn it into wine?
What if he were at the poker table with you? Would you let him beat you? Would you have a chance against him?

You mention that you can lose your wife playing poker...how does that work ? Maybe I'm not playing in the right cash games or tournaments...I've NEVER been allowed to bet my wife as an all-in !!! Gotta find those games !!!!
If your wife is young and good looking we can make a side bet.
Please post her pic.

Young is relative...compared to the age of planet Earth, she is young. Compared to all the kids that Trump is trying to force to go back to school, thinking it makes him look like a better leader than the incompetent narcissist he is, my wife is old. Side bet ? She looks better from the front !

At least she lives in canada, so if I win the side/front bet, she does not have to cross the border to come live with me. My wife might have a problem with that, so give me some time to sort that out first.

Warning...the pandemic has saved me a fortune, but when it's safe, there isn't a free concert at Fallsview or Casino Rama that she won't get tickets for...those FREEBIES cost at least $200 in slot losses...you sure you want her ?

This is totally subjective, even in a religious context. There are so many variations within Judeo-Christian-Islamic beliefs that you're never going to find the right answer.

In my opinion, if you do anything to excess, to the point where it adversely affects your day-to-day life, you're sinning. But that's just my own thoughts on the matter after having studied Christianity and Islam during different points in my life...

For what it's worth, I believe in God. I just don't think he's as loving and benevolent as most of us have been taught, at least here in the West.

So -- again this is my opinion -- you have to find your own balance between "right/wrong" and "good/bad" in your life. Either way, there's going to be elements of both, no matter what you do.

If you enjoy the game, and it's not causing any harm or disruptions in your life, then just play. And good luck to you!

Oddly enough I dont think the bible has any problem with what you are speaking against.

I hear you. Same here. Our casino events are mostly at Seneca Niagara. Expensive 'free' dinner events. At least I get to play poker.
With the border closed, I am saving a ton. We will avoid casinos for a long time.

We also stay at Seneca when we stay overnight...their rates are better than Fallsview and I like the atmosphere better...like the poker room too...over the years I have gotten to know some of the staff and regulars (dealers Duke, Bill, Melissa, Colleen)...makes it fun, if not profitable.

I'm not religious but if you're worried about it just apologize after and you'll be good

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"

In the extremely religious society where I come from it is a sin and a big one, bigger than being an alcoholic. There is huge stigma, poker players are looked down upon as low life degenerate society destroyers.

Every now and then, something comes up in social media about some gambler who lost everything and ruined his family. The image is always negative, positive examples are never portraired. The vast majority confuse poker with lottery, they think its all down to luck! You'll get lucky at first they believe, then God will punish you in the long run! Could be true about poker but, only if you're bad. To tell somebody that you're a poker player, they'll make a certain face and immediately lose their respect. Its an extremely uncommon path in my community.

I myself don't believe in sins, I've tried everything in my short life and its a sin to be good at something and not make money out of it.

I'm sorry

Unfortunately, based on Orthodoxy, gambling is a sin. I am not very strong in this topic, I can not refer to books or anything, I can refer to the words of one person. Playing cards is, in principle, a sin. And I do it every day, it makes me sad. They say that the devil tempts. But I am reassured by the fact that I do not play for fun, although I have fun, poker gives me tremendous emotions, I play in order to somehow make money. I haven't earned anything yet, I had $ 5, I doubled in an hour and lost. Now I set a goal to win the freeroll. I don’t play because I’m very interested in poker, I don’t have talent, I don’t live it, I actually don’t know how to play it! I've been playing for several months, or rather studying. I just set a goal - to earn something from him.:(

For religious people it is sin. For me it is the most beautiful mental sport I have ever known.
