I plan to play in the Super Seniors wsop event in 2018 (at 64, I'm too young this year). I have played in small tournaments in Vegas, Palm Springs, Niagara Falls....30 or fewer players. I would like to hear some good advice from anyone who has played in a BIG tournament....either WSOP, WPT or EPT. I'm sure the atmosphere must be electric....might be similar to attending a regular season basketball, baseball or hockey game, then going to a playoff game....I remember the electricity in the stadium back in 1992 during the World Series games in Toronto....I simply cannot accurately describe the difference.

Thanks for any comments or advice you may have.

Realize that the WSOP blind levels will be twice as long, 60 min, than your typical casino event. So slow down and take your time. The senior events tend to be more passive and more chatty. Otherwise it's just the same. Be aware of stack sizes, watch for tells especially defensive chip handling which seems to me to be more common among the 60+ players, and keep yourself fueled and hydrated!!

It's like any other tournament... just a lot more people and a lot louder chip shuffling. :)

GL when you do play.

My god, I was watching a pokerstars live stream on twitch a couple weeks ago and the chip shuffling was so loud and non stop it was maddening lol. 6 players at the main table with mic's 6 inches away from chip stack going non stop... ouch.

PS. I love the DriveHud. Been using it on betonline and works great!!

Thanks for the advice. I am actually choosing to play in the super seniors event because it is more passive and I shall be one of the youngest when I play....won't have to go up against the younger, aggressive set....it would hurt too much if I made the trip and got knocked out of the tournament in the first hour.

This forum is populated mainly by freeroll hunters, not too many participate in BIG tournaments. If you have the chance this year, go and sit in the audience, that will give you some first hand experience with the atmosphere. And, at 64, you are not too young to play, you're just not old enough :)
