Trash talking, while not my favorite either, has long been a part of the game, and isn't going away any time soon. If you let it get to you; they've won, and this just gives them added incentive to keep it up.

Picture little Jimmy who lives at the end of your street - - that pimply-faced kid who delivered you your newspaper last year. That's the player who's trash-talking you on your table. He's sitting downstairs in his Mommy's basement tellin' her he's playing his X-box but really he's playin' the online pokerzz & is watchin' porn on his Mom's computer. Right now he's typing in the chatbox on your table... yes he played that hand like shyt & got uber lucky. Maybe he doesn't even know it? Who cares? Why let it bug ya?

I used to be real bad for this when I started playing. Only been chat banned once but it was pretty bad and I deserved it. Just lately it has crept back into my game and I'm not sure why. I got really good at handling bad beats and they didn't bother me in the slightest but lately not so much. If I had to say why I do it, I'd say it's to let off some steam I suppose.

Just turn off the chat. I'd be fine if any site I played on didn't even have chat. And not that it really matters to me, but from what I've heard, I am glad they turned off Observer chat at many sites, that was never needed.

In general I'm quite bad for it and really it's just a method of venting. If somebody is doing it you can take solace in the fact that when somebody is doing it they are rarely going to be playing optimally. One of the reasons why it's probably best that I don't have chat because it both distracts me from playing well as well as getting me more wound up whilst in needless arguments.

Move up in stakes. I find table talk a lot nicer at 200nl than what i've seen at 2nl. Obviously when you start playing for significant amounts, the people at your table are either recreational players with significant incomes and typically a high level of education, or poker professionals who know how to treat their customers properly.

Also, make sure you play cash and not tournaments. Cash tables are typically a lot friendlier since there is not the pressure of being eliminated, and if there is ever an unpleasant player at your table, you can always stand up and move somewhere else.

Basically anyone who chats is probably gonna be less than a good and experienced player. There will always be exceptions I guess, but players who like to chat (other than greet a player they know or nh or something similar) seem to mostly fall into this category. Like the players who berate a player, probably fish themselves. Players who let you know they are tilting, and so on.....

OP If chat gets to you just mute it, no need to go on tilt from bad chat.

I always get amused by emotional/sensitive people that get angry/tilted/annoy others at chat, Its impossible for me to take the chatting into my heart, so I just cant understat this people and getting fun of them sometimes, sometimes just mute or read to take a laugh on some poor players that say look how good I amI win every hand, I am the chip leader, you are idiot... you call my 27 AQ? you know I always win with 27?? lol i just laugh a good laugh never get bothered by them. sometimes tell them how smart they are some times try to tell others that try to teach the idiot not to go all in and call them idiots to not take it to the heart...
if you are too sensitive then get the chat off....

Im definitely guilty of this at times...and no, I dont live in my mom's basement.....or have some social disorder- I just tilt.

Honestly as sad as it is, its far sadder to actually be affected by it. Dont like it simply press mute.

Like I said, im not proud of the fact I indulge in berating the fish sometimes, but usually they FKN DESERVE IT!!
