lol i hate both of them, but well 99 is a couple so now just say 99. although when i think about it and see how often people with only high cards win. It's not that easy at all, but I think I'll stick with the couple anyway
I like a pair to start. Not the best of pairs, but it is still a pair. After the flop as long as A 10 doesn't pair the chances look better and better. I would seldom push all-in with nines, but I might call a small raise dependent on the cards that flop. Sometimes playing odd pairs like these can be really good traps for those playing ace high. There is nothing like flopping a set when you know the person has paired one of their precious aces.
I would take the 99 over ATs anytime. 9's are a made hand and the AT needs to improve to win most times. 9's are also easy to get away from on the flop if needed many time. If the flop is AKQ i can fold to a bet and not feel to bad about it.
