No secret that overwhelming majority of poker players do it dumb-and-dumber way: invest some money into game, lose as twice as much, reinvest twice much their loss, relose even more... till a few smart and lucky ones get it how to profit... Some then later claim they've fulfilled their American dream...

But in my understanding, the essence of American dream is different: you had nothing yet managed to become everything.

So, to really qualify to be defined as American dream achievement, it all boils down to freerolls and ability to build bankrolls based on freerolls only...

Does anyone can share own or friend's/colleague's credible story of being able to turn freerolls into something much more without complementing them with own buy-in/cash money?
Highest freerolls amounts? Highest bankrolls grown atop these freerolls? Overall results?

Thanks.

Immediately you need to understand what the term "American Dream" means. There are many stereotypes and versions of her performance. The American Dream is too abstract to be defined in a general way. For someone, "The American Dream" is an acceptable relationship in society, everyday life, values ??and ideals, an opportunity to earn big money. It is possible to win big money in many countries, but it is not possible to get into the "American Dream" in every country.

I think freerolls help you up to a point, but if you really want to achieve the "American dream" you have to invest in big tournaments that help you achieve that goal, no matter how much you make small bets of what you can win in freerolls, I think you will need more to live well just depending on the poker. its not a myth but you need to work for it. Regards.

I only know a few players that are actually poker professionals and at some point they all invest money to play, but I don't think this is a rule. I think you can reach your goals starting from freerolls, but of course it would take a lot more time.

Hi.
Thanks to freerolls, I built a decent bankroll. Now my bankroll is about $ 500 and it continues to grow. I have seen from my own experience that in order to play poker you do not need to spend your own money, you just need to be a member of the CardsChat community and be patient and disciplined. Good luck.

For me an example of the American Dream is Phil Ivey.

Quoting his biography
- The poker story of Phil Ivey begins at the age of 17 when he was working at a telemarketing firm in New Jersey.
It was at that time that he started to sneak regularly into card rooms in Atlantic City
using a fake ID under a fake name of Jerome Graham to play poker.
It wasn't easy for him, because in order to sneak and play in the card rooms
he had to ride a bus for 2 hours to Atlantic City and then back home, with another drive to the bus.
He did this each and every day for 2 years. -

So, he fulfilled his dreams by hard work and dedication.

And, that may belong to other thread, still,

at the beginning he was a bad player. He was loosing a lot.
Like many others he could blame the system - white privileges steal my money -
but then he believed that
the America is the land of the opportunity
where everybody has the chance to success ,
he learned from his games
and the results are known for everybody.

Good luck with freerolls.

An "American Dream" playing poker is probably more unlikely than the "traditional" American Dream people think of when it comes to coming from little means, sometimes from another country, and through hard work and dedication finding success, happiness, and wealth to a prosperous life. With luck being a major factor in poker, that makes it even more unlikely to obtain the "American Dream" in my opinion.

I don't live in America and it is also not my dream to go there sometime, not because I have something against America or something like that but I just don't like to travel far. As if you're talking about the American dream then I don't really understand what is meant, but I assume that when it comes to poker, you want to be successful and have made a lot out of little and built up wealth. Well, there are probably not many people who have done that with poker but they do exist and that's why I think it's very possible
