what do you mean inappropriate you need to count how many odds you have to know your chance of winning.

Believe me, it won't help you win. Only the computer program decides whether you win or lose.

Good afternoon!
In an online game, I think, mathematics prevails, in a live one - psychology. With a limit adjustment.

I think both are very useful.
You're right.

what do you use more playing poker Mathematics or Psychology?
Both walks together, even a person saying he uses more math than psycho thats not true, because if you use more math, psychologically you tend to be a balanced minded player and this means you are using psycho at the same lvl of the math or even more.

In general i think poker is much more about psychology than math. Math everyone can do... now, having a mind to play a solid poker, isnt for everyone.

Haven’t used much of either, thus far have been relying on a hammer…

Might give math & psychology a go now you mention it though! :giggle: (y)

I didn't know we can compare science with junk science...
You think any and all psychology is junk science..?

Poker is about luck, if you're not lucky you can't win, but when you're lucky you can win a tournament.

both are equally important, you need both in poker, I can say that psychology makes you make the most correct decisions as long as you know the probabilities well!

I think both are useful however once you reached years of playing you'll realize reading patterns, mannerism, habits, and other critical thinking is more involved than math. Its really a mix and its varies with different players.

In my opinion, when playing poker, you need to use mathematics, psychology, and inner feelings, and you can't do without luck.🤔

This is absolutely ridiculous! It might not help you win... but I'm pretty sure it helps all the winning players win.

Do you play online poker?

Mathematics is very important in poker, as it is from it that the most profitable moves are made. But if the psychology is not good, it's no use being good with mathematics, since, you lose control of your emotions, you won't be able to execute the best moves.

Math is more important than psychology in online poker. but in general you should have a bit of both to play more profitably. Psychology in live poker is a big aspect and should not be underestimated.

I have experience playing as an online poker and live poker. I also have not bad results in online poker including winning tournaments. It's my own opinion. And it's your right to agree or not. I'm confident that you don't know very well the computer program that regulates online games...
P.S.: Mathematics is one of the most important component of victory in live poker.

So you're suggesting I don't know much about the online poker sites? (when you say 'computer program that regulates online games' ... there isn't a program that regulates online games. BUT there is a certification procedure that is used by an outside party).

I'm not saying you haven't had experience playing online poker but I will suggest that the games you do play aren't a representation of the games on the whole. From the looks of things, you play freerolls. On Stars you've won a few $11 tickets & a $5 ticket that I can see but didn't cash with any of them. On 888Poker you won 1 Cardschat freeroll (Congrats! That must've felt good!).
I've probably played over 4 million cash game hands online (I'm really not sure... but I do know it is LOTS! even on sites I didn't play very much on, I have 100's of thousands of hands).
Compared with MANY other players, I have very little experience with online poker. Have you watched some of the games online? THere are many players who play 50 tournaments per day! (real ones... not freerolls). None of them suggest that the winners are 'pre-determined'. I'm not sure where you get your information to suggest otherwise??? (or is it just based on your experience?)

Sorry if I sound like a disgruntled, angry person. I'm not really... BUT I do get a tiny bit frustrated when I read posts suggesting things like your's has.
Perhaps I should just stop posting on here for awhile. I think maybe I should just keep a thread going that is similar to a blog and leave the rest for others.

Some players ignore the details when calculating opportunities, but despite this, they rarely make mistakes in their predictions. In fact, most of them are able to knock out many mathematicians if the latter need to make a quick assessment, rather than make calculations. When it comes to making a hasty decision in the midst of a battle, the best thing is not the logician, but the one who trusts his instinct.

I think both factors are very important in poker, both mathematics and psychology as well as tactics and practice because poker is always something new so you always need to learn poker from different angles to become a strong player you must have a lot of skills
