“Poker is a combination of luck and skill. People think mastering the skill part is hard, but they're wrong. The trick to poker is mastering the luck.”
- Brian May, poker player and commentator

“In the long run there’s no luck in poker, but the short run is longer than most people know.”
- Rick Bennet, poker player and author.

"If there weren't luck involved, I would win every time."
- Phil Hellmuth, brat.

Luck seems to be a factor in many games and that most definitely includes playing poker. That being said luck (variance) seems to go in waves or streaks, where good luck or bad luck can falsely credit or discredit your mindset on your skill level.

Skill and volume are the true compensators.

Luck, if it really exists , is more a factor in casino or lottery type gambling. Poker is more a game of skill.

I very rarely play games of chance, and if that is all poker was I wouldn't be hooked.

in addition to luck, you also need to have patience. but it seems to me personally that luck also knows who to come to ... and so in this game, of course, the alignment of cards decides everything ... that's why poker is called, but not chess where the opponents have equal chances ... and here is the lottery principle

I can't believe that in this the luck factor is almost 50% in an entire game, well unless it is not like that but I doubt it because you always have that it could be improved with each hand,

Skill is really important in this game, bad hands are part of this game, variance exists for everyone, so you should not rely on luck, it is important to work on the game.

Luck in poker plays only a part 30 percent, the most important is your knowledge, skill and mathematics

Indeed, you need a little luck. If you do not have this then you will not play profitably in any case. Of course you also need skill, but as soon as you get into a downswing with fine play, you're going to lose either way.

No there is so much more to poker than 'luck'...people create their own respective opportunities so that doesn't make them 'lucky'.. another person still has to call your shove..

On an endless distance all have the same probabilities.
>It means you win if you play better (lose if make more mistakes)
> It means Luck is important if you make mistakes
>It means Luck does not a matter if you play better

So, as less mistakes we make, than the less important the luck. (Sorry for my English, if something)
Something like that.
Discordant?
:hmmmm:

It's a big factor yes, but over the long term variance can be defeated by staying sharp, aware, and exercising proper opponent selection.

Don't tilt, don't play spite poker. If you can handle playing drunk/high? Go ahead and do it. If you can't? Don't.

The most important thing in poker is luck .... No need to learn theory, watch videos, count outs - luck will decide everything ...
