I saw the thread about do you believe in Ghost and it got me thinking, how I got to this I've no idea. ,,,

In poker we can all agree that there's luck involved (or if it'll make you feel better, variance). Do you think that some people have more bad luck than good luck? Or do you think it evens out over time?

I can honestly say and nobody can make me think different... I believe there is lots of luck involved. PPl get all kinds of luck calling down... no doubt. no one can predict the the draw without luck or cheating. Now I could catch all kinds of grief saying this but ppl get lucky folding as well. They could fold an A3 to and overbet see that they would have caught a straight on the flop but the turn and a river give the other people 2 pr and a full house. Now if someone say thats skill thats wrong. They folded all because of statistics. they range their hands to a certain worth and they wont call unless its for their price. There are smart folds and lucky folds. i don't believe in the skill adding multiplying dividing subtracting whatever like bets and outs. is a math skill not a poker skill. So in conclusion I guess i believe its all luck and there are smart players and dumd players... not meaning to be bias with the word dumb.

just to clairify thats my thoughts above is strictly towards online poker. Table poker there can be skill folds by feeling the tells but online is all on bet amounts and stack sizes

Luck is a fickle thing. Flit away and not notice. Need to feel the moment.

Before I thought I have a bad luck and all lucky Russians win all the time. But after playing for longer period of time I saw my ultimate lucky moments. I was even luckier than all of them at some point. For example I am playing in a freeroll and haven't seen a playable hand for 30 minutes while in the tournament I played yesterday I was dealt QQ 3 times in a row.

If you can ride out the bad times then variance should swing back in your favour over a large sample size.

Surely some people have more bad luck, but it depends on day, everyone has that day of bad beats, but what will lead you to succes is your ability and flexibility to know when and how to play the hands you have in that moment and game, this is the deal

I play poker only one month.
This short period give me folloing understanding.
Poker is 3-in-1 game:
1. Its a card game. You play in cards.
2. Its stake game. You play with stakes.
3. Its a game of luck. Luck plays with you )))))
And only last point can give you all or take it from you.
One day maybe i will change my point of view but not now.

Wish all of you good luck and Happy New Year!

There's always the lucky factor, sometimes you end with a bad luck streak, you just have to accept it, the even factor does not mean that you will lose one and win the other interleaved, it means that after a great amount of games the score will be close to even, until you reach that great amount of games you will win 10 streak, lose 10 streak, its just how it is

Depends on how much time you are talkin about, over time it obv evens out, unless, of course, your unlucky. :p
