It's a tight rope walk with pocket aces. Great against an isolated villain, not with a multi-way. Great pre-flop, not after a flushy/straighty flop.
However, you can't get too gun shy. I love the way Andrew Neeme in his vlog always frames aces as 'the strongest hand in poker' with a smile on his face. In the past 24 hours I have had aces bust twice, with a straight wrapped around only one of the villains cards...however, I'd rather see a pair of aces than any other hand.
