Good night people! All right? I am an amateur poker player, I use poker as a hobby, but I intend to make it a profitable hobby. I am an online poker player and play with my friends in person, but without much money involved. I would like to ask you who have experience and play both ways, what is the main difference between playing online and facing your opponent looking eye to eye? Thanks and hugs!

playing live allows you to read your opponents body language and some people are good at that, also you can trick people with you body language to take more money. Live its slower action. online is faster and you can easily see everyone's chip stack and its easier to make decent bets and timing is important. online you can run out of time so you have to think faster.

Even with all the distractions, playing in person makes it easier for me to concentrate on the game. And, as zerosalex said, you can also pick up visual cues from the other players. I'm not good at picking up on those cues, but the concentration keeps me "in the game" and helps me to play better. Most importantly it is nice to have human contact and get to know the other players, the vast majority of whom are very nice people. :)

Sure the main difference is that your opponent can't see the adrenaline on your face if you have a good hand... behind a screen you can hide your emotions.

Live you are dealt a real game, the way the game was meant to be played. There is no computer program, there is no algos, it is a deck of cards against people in real life that you make your decisions against. Figure it out :)

I only play online because I do not actually have the ability to play live. But I am sure that the game live is more complex and requires considerable experience, discipline and skill.

Online is much cheaper to play and you can play from any place at any time. You just need internet. Live is generally softer but you need to better control your emotions. Also you depend on the casino and the games it offers (choice is much more limited). Saying that i like much more playing with real chips in real casino. Experience is just better.

Hi.
I only play poker at home because I feel most comfortable at home. I rarely go to the casino, maybe 1-2 times a year and that's why I hardly play live. Also, I usually don't have much free time and money to visit a casino.
Good luck.

I play online only because I don’t have opportunity to play live. When I play live I feel such adrenaline rush , feeling like jumping with parachute or something like that. Playing online you just click buttons, no emotions, if you lose, you just click on another one or add more money and that’s it.

I don't have a lot of live poker experience yet. Hopefully next year I will gain experience playing offline, if the well-known pandemic does not interfere. But in my opinion, the online game is stronger in terms of level relative to the limits. That is, playing in plus in online at the limits nl 25-50, you will play in plus at the limits nl200 + in offline. I want to test this theory next year.

The big difference is that online for an inexperienced player may be more difficult to play as it will come face to face with your opponents and this may harm you, now online you don't have to worry about it too much. An advantage of online is that you have a greater tournament option as there are several platforms and tournaments on a daily basis, and in live we do not have so much option, only major events or some tournaments in poker clubs.

Online poker is much faster and more maths based. It is also much harder.

Live $1/$2 is much softer than $1/$2 online. It's probably equivalent to $0.10/$0.20.

Live is a much more sociable game; you can meet new people, form close friendships and develop poker groups that help to make each other better players.
