Hi Guys,
So I would say I am fairly new to poker as I am only turned 18 in January. When I initially played of course I was a complete fish. However since the start of August I have started to read strategy articles and learn the fundamentals and am starting to profit at 5NL over 12500 hands I am $20 in profit. The main problem I find I have is not knowing when to call 3-bets pre-flop or when I should be 3-betting for value. Often I find myself folding and see them play out the hand and see them flip over AQo when I had AKo.

Also when I am fairly sure I have the better hand should I be raising huge amounts to stop them from seeing another card? Or is it more profitable in the long run to raise a little (e.g 2/3 of pot), let them see the river even though it could improve there hand? The second strategy will increase the value I get from winning hands but could make me lose the hand and so I am not sure.

Thanks
Curtis

i would be 3 betting the AK quite frequently yes you may run into a big pair but thats the risk reward factor cause if u do get it all in and he does end up having AQ then your golden , unless of course he hits his miracle queen which can happen but regardless AK should be 3 betting and sometimes even 4 betting good luck man hope ya win lots brother

If you are a beginner, then read all 3 volumes of Harrington's book. You will receive the entire knowledge base from there

You can use combonator to come up with some ranges.Vs a 3bet the minimum defense frequency is around 28% so just use very tight ranges.

https://combonator.com/

You can also find ranges here
https://www.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=309916&page=1

And here
https://www.pokersnowie.com/preflop-advisor.html

Use those as a guide and play with them until your happy and just go from a tighter starting platform to begin with. And the 3bet ranges in the first set of W3azles ranges are polarized ,poker snowie has a more linear value type 3bet range so you need to research on different strategies and when and why to use them.
.
You can copy and paste ranges to here to see them more accurately.
https://www.pokerstrategy.com/poker-software-tools/equilab-holdem/

And build them and store them here
https://www.flopzilla.com/

10 NL

So after roughly another 15 days I found my self at $50 of profit at 5NL after 19500 hands. I have decided to take a shot at 10 NL. However this shot so far is not going very well. On my first day I found myself up around $5 but the following day I found myself down $18. I have found that players are way more aggressive at 10NL and I find myself losing to people calling my 3bets with J8s when I hold QQ and hitting flushes.. But I always end up paying them off because I just think they are full of it. Ill keep going and maybe post some hands and see if im playing okay.

Thanks
Curtis
