Hi folks,
I havent`t been playing poker for a while.I used to play on a regular basis but had to stop cause it became a gambling problem. So i do these freerolls cuase i love the game :)
But my patient isen`t what it was ,i take my self in playing bad hands when i have built up a nice stack.I often get quit far in tournaments but then my ego takes over and i start playing on hands not paying attention to other players and lose hands that never should have been played.
Just wanted to share this and see if other players have the same problem and if they have some advice or strategy to remind your self to be patient .

Best regards

STOP

if youve struggled financially in the past i think it may be time to stop playing altogether. at least for money. there are plenty off Apps and websites that allow entirely free play such as casinoworld

this may be the best option as i know friends who have entered the exact same cycle of sticking to freerolls then it goes back to a problem in the long run!

I'm great at telling myself to be patient.....right up to the point where I forget, or where I get over excited, or my A9 suddenly looks amazing for some reason!

I've found reading the forum helps, general poker topics can come up with some great little nuggets of advice. Also maybe watch some final tables on the platinum games on pokerstars.

Def recommend the 30 day course too....I've not actually done it yet, but so many people have recommended, and looking through the different subjects on each day I know I'll get loads out of it.

I just need to make some space in my brain for it I think, I probably need some meditation time too!!

Patient is a very valuable gift, because it can help for the best possible decisions. If patient is gone, the unpleasant results come!

If this is such a big problem for you, then it is better to quit playing, otherwise you will one day lose a lot of money.

I know that patience is very important to have success in poker, but I have to say that there are days that I don’t have much patience. I try to play more than one table at the same time, which makes me have a better hand selection and also decreases the anxiety to play.

I would just stop... If you had a gambling addition before you should just leave it.... You will be looking for more and the worst that can happen is to start wining and hook you up again.

It is necessary to be patient, focused is another essential part and many other factors, it can be many factors that trigger your impatience and that you have not noticed perhaps the prize table much, or the tournament feels very slow, the little action makes you desperate etc. ,, Always remember the time that you have already invested and thus clear your mind, music, a drink, some of that should help, and of course daily learning is very important to improve every day, what happens to you you can improve it, no have any doubt about that, greetings and encouragement:jd4::jd4::jd4::jd4:

I always try to be patient, because only through my patience do I make the right decisions and achieve good results. If you want to be a successful player you have to be a patient player.

Yes, this is a problem that not only needs to be dealt with.Getting the better of yourself and your mind is what you need in your situation.Poker requires constant training and practice of the game.Motivate yourself to win and play by thinking about your actions. When you are lucky-do not throw your luck because it is not eternal and you need knowledge!Good luck!

You are playing with anxiety and the more you have chips and lose them you want to recover very quickly that is ANXIETY, you must play calmly and accept what happened if it is due to the variance, I recommend that you listen to music that relaxes you while you play or watch videos that help you relax your anxieties so you don't take them to the poker tables.

Poker is a game in which only patient players can be successful players. If you do not have enough patience, then you simply do not have a chance to succeed in the long run.

I am lately inpatient too. I know the feeling, you want to gain a good stack quickly and playing with not such good hands. The good thing is that you see that you made a mistake with your play. Maybe you needed that break

Hi, i feel you, its the anxiety, you need to think about it, why do you feel it? what activities didnt make you feel anxious and you can do them for hours?, whats the difference? what are the expectatives of both?

Honestly, if you cant control the anxiety, you cant play poker with real money, i still have troubles with that and literally im in the 1° place and didnt got even a prize on a tournament.

Do you feel same levels of anxiety in cash tables and torunament ones?, not me, becouse i know i can sit out from the table any time at cash, and tourneys... when im the chip leader its like i wish this ends now and i start playing fool hands, becouse my anxiety wants to see the display of how much cash i have won, or not, and trigger an emotional response, that motivates me to 1. another match, 2. a rest, both are okay, but if you think that emotional answers of this kind are affecting the way you play, its a red flag, trust me, its something that i still struggle.

Talk with yourself, maybe do a secondary activity, i like to search for csgo skins, chat with someone i want, but not at the point of distracting me... im really easy to distract.
If i find me bored, i will get anxious super fast and throw my cash, specially becouse im more of torunaments, not a cash player, so, it just lead me to feel bad cuz i played so stupid and if the compulsion is here, i have been playing fool hands for hours and lost a ton of my bankroll.

Just remember when you play that smooth games, like the king of the table, have the control of all, and you feel great with yourself, your confidence grows, the anxiety doesnt kick, and you feel you have done a good job. And compare to the anxiety and compulsive behaivor that makes you do bad decisions and at the end of the day feel wrong with yourself.

Choose one of that two, your decision, the rest is conciouncess and training, the patience will put away the anxiety, but is like any other habit, hard to remplace, but at the end of the day, is your own decision, when you are honest and aware of your reality.

That applies in tons of areas in my life personally :D

It is important to learn to control yourself and make decisions consciously. It's okay if the error can be corrected, but if the error leads to disaster, you should stop doing it. Everyone comes here to win - it won't be easy.

You need to be "mindful" about 1/2 way through the tournament - not just at the beginning.

I would be honest with yourself - what is your goal? Final table or just try to beat a player in a certain seat? Are you just trying to get lucky? Why throw the tournament away?

Sometimes when I want to call a 4x raise when I have AT - I realize that I can 3-bet with that hand but not call. The book says to fold - so I stop myself and fold.

It sounds like you want to do the same.

I'm not keen on missing hands but if you have to - get up and go for a 5-minute walk around your house/apartment building.

It seems to me, and with all due respect, that you are still having control problems due to gambling addiction. The right thing to do would be to stop playing for a longer time and get a group of support whether it be meditation, yoga or whatever you feel works with your life. Gambling addiction is something very dangerous and if you don't know how to control yourself then you run the risk of falling back into it quickly. Greetings and I hope you can one day improve your patience and control your bets.
