Hello. I am very interested to see how folks would or do do it. What a sup to retirement that would be, huh? Thanks!

$500 a month is easy to make if you put in enough volume. I think that is the biggest obstacle. Most of us have jobs, families and such that don't allow us to put in the volume needed. I am a busy lawyer with my own small firm plus I have 3 young children at home. Sometimes I get to play up to 10 tournaments a week and sometimes the only game I play all week is my league game.

But, if I were to decide to put in the volume. I would start in the microstakes. These are easy games to beat if you have the right strategy and put in enough volume. $500/week does not sound easy at these levels, but it really is. Good you're able to make a profit there. I have also access to BetOnline and looks like they have some decent micro buy-ins there. So look out for me at the tables soon :D

Nice! I'll be looking out for ya! That would be fun to be on a final table together at some point. :)

Good luck!

Not on microlimits, that's for sure. You can't make that kind of money from freerolls. The bigger the bet, the bigger the winnings.

I found a little way to make a decent profit with my poker winnings. This is a recent statistical study. I started three weeks ago. This is what I do.

I play four sites; BOL, SB, ACR, and ITOPS. I transfer my poker winnings to the respective site's sportsbook. I grew up with baseball. I spent my last 16 years of employment doing financial and statistical work. I apply that knowledge to each day's MLB games. Most times on the spread. I choose 3 of the best teams for the day. The choices take about two hours of my time each day. I am retired, I usually have the time.

When I make the three team choices, I measure who is best in each of 35 stats. Once I narrow down my selections to say 4-6 teams (usually 9-16 games per day), I look strongly into the past seven games of each pitcher, each game. That usually helps to narrow down to three teams.

When I bet the spread, I set my bets to where all 3 games yield the same in winnings. That way I can take one loss and be OK. Out of my last 17 bets, I won 12. Totaling all 3 sportsbooks, I have gone from $25 to $132 in less than 3 weeks.

So I take my poker game very serious. That money makes more money and I feel more in control of my decision outcomes. I have played poker for a minimum of 12 years. I do OK. Now I think I can really make some money from POKER.

I only play with my poker winnings, so it very important to me.

I'm out of the saddle now. Cheers!

Hello. You folks are awesome. I never thought this would create so much interests, imaginative ideas and advice. Wow! I got on my saddle and started riding thru the postings. I could not get off. I am grateful for all your inputs. I even tossed one out there I thought of after posting the thread. I'll keep reading. And for the fella in brazil, jfofla, good luck to ya. Another person was right, just play right here.

Keep your ideas flowing, please. Looks like there are more than I thought wanting the same goal. Have a good day and good luck in your games, all.

Cheers!

I bought all his Micro books, printed out, took to Office Max and had each bound to book. I am presently studying his material and watching his videos. I don't know how much he makes at poker, but he darn sure puts out some good stuff! Thank you.

Almost monthly, I withdrawn on average $ 300-$ 500 without replenishment and all from freerolls!
At first he played freerolls, made a small bankroll, and then played regular tournaments.
It's always good to hear success stories! Congratulations.

with the luck I have been having playing lately the best thing I could do with the $500 is buy lottery tickets. I would have about the same amount of luck ther as playing Holdem lately

Thank you for the laugh! Have a good weekend.

I would grind 1.50$-3$ SNG's. I think you can win relatively stable if you get good at it.

old topic, but here goes:

I think an above-average player can make a ROI of around 50% in an average month with a reasonable volume. I am basing this on large but not huge MTTs, do not know about cash and S&Gs.

So will need to enter around $1000 worth. 1000 x $1 would just take up too much time an 100 x $10 is just too little to overcome variance so I guess around 50 - 70 MTTs a week between $3.30 and $5 should get you in the ball park most months.

Reads like you want to take all the fun out of the game.
Putting pressure on yourself to win every month is not the way I would go.
Play the game , learn its ups and downs, take the loses with the wins in a positive way.
If you are not enjoying the time spent playing, I would find another source of supplemental income.

Exactly! So on point about pressure, you will treat it as job and go nuts when instead of making making you go downswing. Poker should never be source of income unless you are professional player playing for at least mid stakes and being up statistically + good bankroll. That is not the case with 99,9% of players. I won only 25$ within 3-4 last weeks, I might aswell go look for coins laying somewhere to earn more :D

I would be surprised if you could do it every month continually to be honest. You would also need a good roll to get you started.

The best way to make $500 a month is to put $20 in your gas tank and go to work :) I read that somewhere and totally agree.

But I don't drive? Taking the bus meen I'll get to the 500$ before you?

Hello.
In order to earn a stable $ 500 a month, your bankroll must be at least $ 2000-3000. There are a lot of options, but I would choose tournaments with a buy-in of 5 to 20 dollars.

I'd try to make $20 profit every single day. No matter if it comes from cashgame or MTT's or SNG's, it's really up to you.

I'd play cashgame ( .05/.1 or .1/.2) because it's much easier to maintain the same profit everyday.

To be honest I make around $100 a week so I'm not that far from the $500/month profit. I usually play short deck tournaments and battle royale games and MTTs and cashgame so yeah, it really depends on my mood.

It's not easy at all. I've learned a lot to be able to be on this level and I consistently upgrade my knowledge, I take online courses and I read lots of books.

My recipe is simple. Learn, play, review your hands, learn, learn, play and so on.

my biggest earning since i started learning to play poker was 1,000.00 dollars in one week , of course i played bj , roulette and many different poker games , the problem i have observed is the inconsistency in the results , i started with the money i won in freeroll , I can currently earn between 100 and 200 dollars a month just with freerol, with the pandemic it became harder to win, players play harder

Guys, it is not so difficult to win $ 500 in a month, even at micro limits and freerolls, as you think.
I will give an example in my evening load of almost all freerolls at 5 rooms plus a few Home Games on pokerstars, if you play well these tournaments a day, you can win from $ 10 -20 $, with this money you can play regular tournaments at micro-stakes.
In regular tournaments I often play satellites, but it takes a lot of time, but one rule never gets updated for me, so this is the strategy.

I am sure anything is possible in Poker, if you are playing the correct game format, that you are comfortable with, and buying in for the right level to make that kind of money, But personally I am not interested in making $500 a month.
I don't play Poker purely for profit, it is too much hard work to play at such a level that you feel that you must play and win constantly, I play for the pleasure the game gives me, win or lose, it really does not matter, the important thing for me is to play my best and if I win, Great! If I lose "Se la vie" it is no great loss, losing 1% of my bankroll or some times even less.
Poker is a hobby for me, just a little Fun! Last year because the lock-downs stopped me from playing every week at my local Pub, I hammered the on-line poker site Pokerstars and played everyday, as many as 8 or 9 single table K.O. games and the Cardschat free-rolls, my intention was to double my bankroll which stood at $210 before the lock-downs started and now is over $540.
I did what I wanted to do, and more besides because I thought I could, and proved I can do it, if I put my mind to it, This year I have slowed down and hardly play at all besides the Cardschat free-rolls, making a living or even just $500 a month would be too much like hard work and I gave that up years ago, (retired).
Keep Poker Fun!

When the fun Stops, STOP!

I can't do it, or haven't tried or had time too but my friends do it very easily. They play sit n goes and get into juicy tournaments and do very well online as im not that good online but i crush it at the casinos and poker houses so to each his own I guess. Good luck.
