If you had $10K, which events would you play in at WSOP?

How many of you plan to play in the wsop someday? Would you use 10k to buy into the main event or play in several other events with smaller buy ins. I would probably enter the other NL holdem tournaments and buy into the main event if I cashed won enough to break even. That would be a great few weeks... It would be awesome to play in the main event and be seen on ESPN playing against the pros. Someday... lol

I would try to get into as many small events as I could. The 1,000 dollar buy-in events. Or I might try to get into an odd 5,000 event that not many donks would be in.

Logical answer: sod the tournaments, I'd take the $10K to the cash game tables and try to clean up against all the tilted tournament donkeys.

Emotional answer: I'd play the Main Event. I figure I've gotta do it at least once.

Main event. Although the field is huge, I would estimate at least 50% of the players are sub par/average vs. the other events which are filled with the best players in the world. With a little luck (or at least no really bad luck), I think it would be somewhat easy to cash, after I cashed, the pressure would be off and you never know what could happen.

I would play the main event cause it is the ultimate dream and even if I didn't cash I would still have been overly esstatic to have played in the main event! Hopefully one day my bankroll will allow me to play there

I'd rather play 6 smaller bracelet events. You still get to play against pros, and you'd have 6 shots at cashing or better.

ME. I'd love a story about how I bluffed a pro in the ME for a huge pot, or sucked out on Helllmuth, or got caught bluffing by Ray Romano (ouch, that one would hurt, lol. Probably wouldn't tell the grandkids - "Papa, why'd that terrible actor take all your chips on TV?" "Because I thought my eights were good there. I didn't think he'd call my preflop raise with 53o! Your grandmother still nags to me about that, please, it's burning a hole in my heart - and has been - for the last 75 years. Please don't bring it up any more!"

Sounds about right.

The ME seems to have a very vulnerable field. With enough strong poker playing, a little luck (or no bad luck), and good target selection/chip accumulation/tilt control, I'd imagine I could cash.

However I only have one of those things (chip accumulation) eventually - and this is on all my charts - they all go up and up and up and up steadily over a period of time. And then CRASH. I'd wager I could make it to day 3 before my chart crashed though. :)

With some solid TAG playing, you should be able to clean up and pay for your vacation with your winnings. Some of my semi pro buddies go to Vegas a few times a year and they always end up going for free (paying with their poker winnings). At that time of the year (wsop) Vegas is full of the softest, most casual players in the world. Stick to 1-2, no reason to play any higher - with that BR and solid Tag playing, you could easily make $300-$500 a day that time of year just playing a loose 1/2 table. Just don't play drunk or you will be targeted by the many sharks that swim around that time of year as well, lol.

$10K of "my" money? I would play Event 54 and then see where it goes.

$10K of "someone else's" money - sure. Hope they pay the hotel bill too.

I'd only be WSOP-bound via a satellite package, so what I'd play would depend. I think some sites still buy their package winners in, so I'd have no choice. That's what happened for the non-WSOP package I won a couple of years ago. There were no smaller buyins, so switching to them also wasn't possible.

If I could take the cash? Hard to say. I might do something like keep part and use part to play a few of the $1000 and $1500 tournaments.

I'd play in the smaller events and see if I cash and have some extra cash to take home with me.

Easy decision for me. The main event...... 'cause it the MAIN EVENT! I would like to try it just once. You can play lesser tourneys any day of the week at hundreds or thousands of casinos.
