In my opinion the only way that we can know who the best is to see ALL losses . It doesn’t matter if you won 100 million if you lost 99 million in the process.

Who's on my MT CRUSHMORE? I will go ahead and say Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, and Dnegs belong in the top ten no matter what, but there are so many it's hard to say. You have to put Seidel in there, as well as Brunson, Ungar, and Chan. After all the greatest poker movie of all time spoke of him like he was the poker king, and at the time, he may have been. Then, you have all of the great yound players that are still evolving like Tom Dwan, Fedor Holz, Bonomo, Bencb, Charlie Carrol, Doug Polk, and Michael Mizrachi, and most of these players are the American players that I know. There's simply too many players who are exceptional, and there's almost no way to narrow it down unless you're referring to specific games.

It is impossible to choose the best of all your names.
Doyle Brunson is the undisputed legend, named by Daniel Negreanu as the link between the history and the modern era of poker.
Sam Farha, Cris Fergusson, Stu Ungar, Jennifer Harmon, Scotty Nguyen, other great legends.
Phil Hellmuth a character and a machine to win bracelets, for me he is among the top 3.
Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker, Tony G, and others from that glorious era of poker who always stayed on top.
It's very difficult For WSOP bracelets 1st Helmuth 2nd Brunson 3rd Seidel
By trajectory Brunson, Farha and Nguyen
For charisma Negreanu, Seidel and Hachem
Silent killers Ivey, Moneymaker, Hachem and Esfandiari
Poker Lady Jennifer Harmon
The 3 that I personally like the most: Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth and Joe Hachem
My idol Doyle Brunson
A player who retired and I really liked: Jason Mercier
My compatriots the ones I like the most: Nacho Barbero, Damian Salas, Fabian Ortiz, Maria Lampropulos and Alejandro "Pappo" Lococo (all from argentina).
A current player that I like a lot The Brazilian Fabiano Kovalski
Good friend, very good post. Sorry for the long summary but I couldn't choose 3 without explaining the reasons for each case.
And I'm sure I'm forgetting many more!
Cheers;););)(y)(y)(y)

I need more context like tournament play, cash games, etc., but I would pick #1 Phil Hellmuth, #2 Phil Ivey, and #3 Daniel Negreanu.

What does "K/D ratio" mean?

I think the best player is Spider-Man Tobey Maguire )))
He seems to have won the most in poker (more than 40 million). So he's the best :D

For me, Daniel Negreanu is in first place and the rest doesn't matter anymore. He knows how to play, he knows how to joke, he knows how to read the opponent.

I personally would pick Brunson, Ivey and Negreanu. But it really hurts to leave out Seidel, Harman and Hellmuth. So honestly I think it's not possible to pick a few namens from this List because they are all great players.

Ivey , Negreanu , Hellmuth . Of course their knowledge of the game is profound , but the most important reason for picking them is not their results , but their contribution to the game overally all these years .

It really depends on definition of "best." Are we saying best in...Cash Games? MTTs? Sit'n'Gos? Poker variants? Career earnings? and so on...

Judging "overall" as the best players regarding general ability, I'd probably say the three best are (in no particular order)

1) Phil Ivey
2) Phil Hellmuth
3) Daniel Negreanu

I will say I'm a bit surprised at how many posts agreed with my list of 3 players though. All 10 of these players are high-level poker pros and someone could probably make a case for any of them 😎
